In your book you mention that Buddhists believe that life is pain. How do you get beyond pain if that is the case?
Snowboarding. Meditation. Anything that you really love takes you above pain. And I don't really have a problem with the pain of life. Perhaps that is because I am a martial artist and I am used to dealing with pain. Or perhaps I adjusted to pain because there has been a great deal of it in my life.
But I don't think that you can have one without the other. I think that pain gives us appreciation of joy - it's a package deal. And I definitely think that the joys of life far outweigh the pain.
