Fabrice Sapolsky: A Marathon

For the first interview of 2019, I caught up with Humanoids' Senior Editor Fabrice Sapolsky. A year ago I spoke with him as he was settling into his new position as Senior Editor. He hinted a lot at the new H1 line then, and now he talks a bit more about it and its premiere this spring on New Comic Book Day. We talk about the other Humanoids imprints Fabrice oversees, Spider-Man: Noir, the roles of various creators on the H1 line, and how to maintain the passion for a project even though it might take two years for it to see the light of day.

Dexter Adriano: Editing Agent

For the last episode of 2018, I have something a little different. Dexter Adriano has been an editor on PSYCH, ARROW & LEGENDS OF TOMORROW. Right now he's an editor for Marvel's AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. So today I find out what a TV editor does during his workday. We also talk about Tim Truman's SCOUT, having Roger Corman and John Badham for mentors, and not being perfect.

Will Dennis: It’s the Work

We cover a lot: The controversies of Before Watchmen, Batman: Damned & Dead Rabbit and working through it. Also, self-correcting in our times, conventions, crime comics, DC Black Label's origin, and working on scripts with Brian Azzarello and Jason Aaron.

SNAP FLASH HUSTLE (bonus ep.)

On New Comic Book Day, December 5, SNAP FLASH HUSTLE published by Black Mask Studios and created by Emily Pearson & Pat Shand premieres. Not only did we have a great talk about their new mini-series but also about making a living and securing a retirement while creating comic books, pitching, and the inspiring creative environment that Black Mask Studios nurtures for its creators.

Joseph Illidge: Economics & Empathy

I’ll say it again-- Over the past year, I’ve become a big fan of Valiant Comics. I thoroughly enjoy the events and characters that make-up their superhero universe, especially the conflicted protagonists of Toyo Harada and Livewire. So it was a great pleasure to talk to Valiant’s Executive Editor Joseph Illidge about those characters, Stan Lee, Dwayne McDuffie and how Dwayne influenced Joseph’s approach to editing.

David Leach: Archival Gold

My first interview with David Leach was packed with information. Well, today's discussion surpasses the first one because in this interview David's passion for the comic book medium really comes out as he talks about his archival work on Flash Gordon and Jack Kirby's and Gil Kane's The Prisoner. Also, we talk about budgets, agents, and the upcoming Blade Runner comic book.

Jeanine Schaefer: Budgets & Business

In this episode, I finish up my interview with BOOM Studios’ Executive Editor Jeanine Schaefer. Three weeks ago I released a bonus episode in which we talked a lot about hockey. You can still download that. Today we get back to talking about editing comic books, the role of agents, FIREFLY, Jeanine’s mentor, and the music of John Grant.
