Roll in the Sand

Action and reaction, cause and effect: when we act, we pick up both ends of the stick. What do we do next? Will we chew on the stick? Do we pull on it? In honor of Sarah the Wonder Dog, today we observe: you must drop the stick before you can roll in the sand.

Dance into May

We have reached Bealtaine or Beltane. It is the halfway point between the spring equinox and the summer solstice, the beginning of summer and a celebration of life. Is there anything that's holding you back or weighing you down? Anything left over from the underground time of the winter? Shake it off. It's time to stoke our inner fires as we dance into May

Being and Becoming

The great high renaissance sculptor Michelangelo was asked, “How did you make your statue of David?” He is reported to have said, “It's very simple; you just chip away the stone that doesn't look like David.” We are the artists who carve our lives. We make the choices that shape what we become. As we chip away the parts that aren't ourselves, we increasingly become who we are. Today we explore "Being" and "Becoming".

Spring in Your Step!

You can feel it in the air. In my neck of the woods in the north, it's this coming Wednesday March 20th, at 6:58pm, that the sun will shine directly on the equator – at the moment of the spring equinox - before continuing its journey which shapes the cycles and the seasons of our lives. The spring equinox is the time when day and night are equal. We balance at that mid-point for a moment before the days begin to get longer. Today we celebrate the rebirth of the year at the coming of spring.

A Man, My Son

What is it to be strong, and capable, and competent, and compassionate and masculine at the very same time? It is, perhaps, very similar to what it is to be strong, and capable, and competent, and compassionate and a person at the very same time. Today, on International Women's Day, we reflect on women and womanhood, and men and masculinity.
