3DTechTalks - The Untold Truths about 3D Printing

Ken Burns of Forecast3D gave an important talk at the Pacific Design & Manufacturing Conference in February about what he calls the "untold truths" in 3D Printing. This point can't be overemphasized. Every industry is guilty of believing it's own hype but new technologies at the start of that hyper growth phase are especially susceptible. Ken gave an excellent talk about the difficulties of scaling from good looking prototypes into full scale production and how that might just not be feasible. He emphasized the misunderstandings that come with designing for 3D Printing and perhaps most important, we both agree the industry still has a lot of learning to do before companies really understand how and when to use the many different additive technologies and materials. Thanks Ken for taking the time to share your insights and experience with 3DTechTalks. Jack Heslin --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/3dtechtalks/support

3D TechTalks - Metal 3D Printing: Issues and Aerospace Applications.

Applications for metal 3D Printing or as it is sometimes called - Metal Additive - are growing rapidly across many manufacturing sectors. One of those sectors where Metal Additive is - and will continue to have - an enormous impact is aerospace. Melanie Lang, co-founder of Metal Additive provider #Formalloy, is someone at the very heart of these changes. Melanie took the time to talk with 3DTechTalks about the benefits and challenges of metal additive as well as her thoughts on where the industry is now and where it's going. Melanie will be giving a talk on this topic "Metal Additive Manufacturing for Aerospace Applications" on Tue. February 5 at 2:00 PM at the #PacificDesign&Manufacturing Conference. 3DTechTalks - How Multi-Materials Will Transform Additive Manufacturing

Dr. Behrang Poorganji is Director of Materials Technology at GE Additive. 3DTechTalks will be introducing Dr. Poorganji at The Pacific Design & Manufacturing Conference in Anaheim CA on February 5th. Dr. Poorganji's presentation goes right to the heart of what the driving force is in the industry. It's about the materials! The more material diversity, the more widespread the applications, the more widespread the applications, the faster the rate of adoption of additive technologies. Big thanks to Dr. Poorganji for taking the time share his insights on this very important topic in 3D Printing. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/3dtechtalks/support
