Roger Sessions and the anti-complexity patent

The Anti-Complexity PatentSmall IT projects usually succeed. Large IT projects usually fail. Why? Large IT projects are complex. Small IT projects are simple. The simpler the project, the more likely it is to succeed. But what if you could find a way to remove the complexity of large IT projects without reducing their size? What if you could find a way to make large IT projects as simple to do as small ones? The Anti-Complexity Patent was granted for exactly this purpose. There are many patents for systems that try to model complexity, understand complexity, or track complexity. This is the first patent ever granted for a system to remove complexity.

Michael Wu: The Social Ecosystem and Cyber Anthropology

Great title, I know. In addition, we'll have a great guest, Michael Wu, Principle Scientist at Lithium Technologies. As Michael noted to me in email:"The idea of social ecosystem is to bring everyone on the same page when speaking of social media. Your initial post breaks down the entities at different granularity from unit to organization to ecosystems, which are concepts that are already understood by people. The idea of cyber anthropology is to user social anthropological principles to explain why people behave the way they are on social media. It is the why of social media, and it is the “social” of social media. Since people generally have a good understanding of how human behave in real life through social interactions, social anthropology offers a good organizing principle to understand the social interaction online."I hope you'll join, listen, and engage as we explore this interesting aspect of the social world we're living in today.
