About Us

City of Refuge Fellowship is a community of people in Burlington City New Jersey seeking to be agents of change, vessels of God's glory, and ministers of unity in our community. We desire to be led by the Holy Spirit, devoted to the Body of Christ, and servants to our community. Through prayer, obedience to the Word of God, worship and servanthood we believe that we can fulfill the calling to be Ambassadors of Christ and ministers of reconciliation. Join us in our weekly podcast for messages from our pastor, Abie Kulynych and various guest speakers.www.cityofrefugefellowship.org

“Devoted to His Voice” John 10:1-6

Have you ever had a relationship in which you felt like you gave more than you received in return? We all have, whether it was friendship, dating, employment, church or neighbors, we’ve all felt, at some point, like we were more devoted to someone than they were to us. In Acts 2:42, the first church was described as “devoted”. Luke wrote that the first believers, “Devoted themselves, to the apostles teaching, to the fellowship (described by the breaking of bread) and to prayer.” Have you noticed yet that the devotion of the first church was not to actions, efforts or accomplishments? They weren’t devoted to growing the church, to living their best lives, to changing the Roman government or to building the faith that moved mountains. Their devotion was to actions that created and deepened relationships. The devotion of the first church was not to things that would change their lives or meet their needs or fulfill their desires, they devoted themselves to the relationships they ...

“2019: Devoted” Acts 2:40-47

This week as we prepare for the New Year, we asked ourselves this question, are we willing to be devoted? In Acts 2:42, we read that the first 3,120 believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. This was not just a momentary piece of their lives, but it is how they lived because they were a changed people. People who were willing to be different so that God could have His way and be glorified. People who were committed to Christ and committed to each other. Devotion is what you never stop doing. It is a constant call. Once it begins, it must continue. Jesus was devoted to the will of the Father and devoted to those who were placed with Him. Mary was devoted to the Word of the Lord. We read in Luke 2 that she pondered and treasured in her heart all that was said and had taken place and despite her lack of understanding, she trusted God and was committed to His will. I pray that as we go into this New Year, that we w...

“The Great Joy of a Changed Life” Matthew 1:18-25

This week we finished our “Great Joy” series by discussing the great joy of a changed life. There is one thing that every person involved in the first Christmas story had in common, the promise and birth of Christ changed their lives dramatically. When Jesus was born, that is the first time we see the angels come with a song rather than just an announcement. It meant that something new happened and that something good was upon us. But real change requires us to make a decision. Change must move beyond merely a change of circumstances that we see around us and become a change of our hearts that we experience in us. What good is it if the details change, but our hearts remain the same? Christ came to change us so that we could follow Him, living changed lives. Are we willing to be changed? Today, I pray that we would realize our need for change and that we would experience the great joy of living lives completely surrendered to Christ.
