79 ALIA JOY "Glorious Weakness: Discovering God in All We Lack"

Author Alia Joy joins me on the podcast today, sharing about her new book,Glorious Weakness. From Seth Haines' forward in the book: "Through sexual trauma, encounters with racism, the loss of a child, and mental health issues, Alia shares her suffering with such sensorial artistry that you cannot help but enter in. But this is not a book about suffering for the sake of suffering. Instead, this work leads you deeper into an experience of Christ, the suffering servant, and along the way exposes the faux-christ of middle-class privilege." Get this book, friends!! It is brilliant and breath-taking, leaving the reader speechless and more deeply in love with Jesus. www.aliajoy.com https://www.amazon.com/Glorious-Weakness-Discovering-God-Lack/dp/0801093341/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=alia+joy&qid=1557416647&s=gateway&sr=8-1

SHANNON GEURIN "Our Mistakes Don't Define Us"

What do you think of when you hear the words infidelity or adultery? Most assume it's a man who was the perpetrator. Many assume that it is a death sentence for a marriage (or death for the spouse if it ever happened to them!) Most imagine that forgiveness and mercy would be impossible; trust and intimacy could never truly be restored. Even Jesus said adultery was a legit pass to get out of a marriage, right? On the show today, Shannon Geurin shares about how she walked through the pain of betrayal in her marriage eleven years ago, however, she was the offender. She had believed the lie that she no longer wanted her husband and had found true love in another. After confessing to her husband, her plan was to leave him and their girls for a life with elsewhere. But, God... Today, Shannon and her husband John are living a fully restored marriage and love story as a result of grace, commitment, and a lot of hard work on both sides. Shannon's mission is to help women rise up from the pain and brokenness of their mistakes and realize their worth and value to God, to understand that they are fiercely His.
