Bad bosses and a good God

Many of us have worked for bad bosses or served under power-hungry leaders before, but none of us have had a leader as bad as Nero, the one Paul was talking about in Romans 13 when he called on us to submit to authorities put in place by God. This message will challenge everything you think about submission and authority and will inspire you with one amazing story at the end.

Bad bosses and a good God

Playing chicken with God

If you've ever been caught in a rainstorm without an umbrella, then you know how important it is to be protected. The good news is that God does, too, and as we learn in the first week of our new "Umbrella" series, He's always had a plan to cover us. The question is: will we trust His plan or our own?

How to look like Jesus

So often we fall into the lie that serving is an option on the checklist of Christian things to do, but as Paul reminds us in the last message of the "Self•ish" series, serving is what we do because serving is who we are. In fact, we're never more like Jesus than when we serve!

How to look like Jesus

The power of community

One of the biggest lies in the American church today is that all we need to do is worship Jesus and that being around people in community is optional. But living outside of community will cause us to miss out on so many things that God has chosen to only do when we're in community.

We'll be what we see

Our first week of the "Self•ish" series focused on how worship can give us a bigger perspective on Who God is and how that can help us navigate the process of sanctification and transformation that is sometimes slower than we'd hoped it would be. Worship also helps us gain the Father's heart for people as we tend to become like what we worship. That's why worship can fuel activities like standing for life with love Life Charlotte - when we live life in front of God, we'll value life that comes from God.

Get in the river

On the final night of Encounter 19, we welcomed Pastor Mike Field from Hope Church in Charlotte, NC, to the platform. Pastor Mike took us to Ezekiel 47 and encouraged us to trust God enough to surrender and get in the river that God uses to take us away from experiencing an encounter and into living one.

Summon your courage

Session 4 of Encounter 19 featured a stirring message from Mark Ivey, Lead Pastor of Christ Alive Church in Newton, NC. Pastor Mark showed us that God always has people waiting in the wings to usher in His move. Our part is to summon the courage to step out of the shadows and bring the light to the darkest places.

Overcoming the Jezebel spirit

Teri Furr, an Executive Pastor at The Refuge in Concord, NC, was our guest for Session 3 of Encounter 19 and she brought a strong word from the Lord on how the Jezebel spirit seeks to cause us to compromise and tolerate things in our lives that can dull the move of the Holy Spirit.

Between here and there

No longer slaves

As we kick off Encounter 19, Paul reminds us that the Father's heart has always been adoption and that adoption is a family affair. The Father selects us, the Son saves us, and the Spirit sets us in the family.
