Peter: From Simon to the Rock (part 2)

We’re in the middle of a series taking a look at the life of Peter that Jon titles “Peter - From Simon the Rock”.In this weeks sermon, Jon reminds us that, when we intentionally seek out God, He meets us! He shares a song that God brought to his attention called Speak Now Jesus by Starfield. You can listen to it here.We take a look at the differences between the world ‘kingdom’ and God’s Kingdom. It is death and life! Two worlds collide - heavenly and earthly. In the story of Jesus healing many, Jesus wanted to forgive sins but they just wanted healing. He gave them both, but we see what his primary focus is: spiritual health. We can’t approach His kingdom for what it can do for us, but what He will do through us! The last question Jon poses is short but contains such depth: How is your walk? Scriptures: Luke 4:38-44, Luke 5:17-26Download this sermon below or subscribe to our podcast!

Peter: From Simon to the Rock (part 1)

This week we begin a new series taking a look at the life of Peter that Jon titles “Peter - From Simon the Rock”.After an explanation of Simon’s (Peter') background, Jon reminds us that Simon saw himself as a sinful man while Jesus saw him as a fisher of men. It’s a reminder to us that sin often drowns out the voice that gives us purpose! Jesus sees potential but we often get in the way of it coming to fruition. Know that God sees something in you! He believes in you and the potential He has given you. Jesus will invest in use because He desires to bring us to our best! Winning: Joshua's Journey Part 11

Learning to live victoriously from Joshua’s journey.Jon starts out this weeks message with a question, What is faith? He asked, “Now faith is…” and then went on to share from the scriptures, “the confidence in what we hope for and the assurance about what we do not see.”We are then reminded where we’ve been on this journey through Joshua. We remember out God told Joshua to be strong and courageous and for us to remember that God is with us! But then Jon posed a question as well: Why are we reluctant to step into all that God has called us to? We must ask ourselves if we are misplacing our faith in ourselves rather than in God. And we also must ask if we are willing to go “all in” for God! As Jon puts it, “The more comfortable we get with the world, the more we compromise our faith.” Our fear should be in Him, not in the things of this world. Winning: Joshua's Journey Part 10

Learning to live victoriously from Joshua’s journey.Do you ever stop and consider how big God is? During this message the Yreka Church of the Nazarene takes time to share what God has been doing in their lives. While not all are able to be heard, we hope you will celebrate with us about the amazing things our BIG God is doing! Jon also talks about how we can either surrender to God’s plan for our lives in Jesus or we go our own way. But, no matter the choice we make, God is the author of our story. He is God and He is a BIG God. Through the course of his message he comes to share a story from the musical group For King and Country that happened before they created the song, Burn the Ships. You can watch that video here. The question remains: are you seeking God in the midst of your struggles? Do you consider His greatness and are you willing to surrender to His plan for your life?
