The Song

EIt's been at least a full episode since Derek has yelled at a woman for not being sexy enough for him, so this week Veronica Moore fixes that problem by performing a televised one night only concert and submitting to his every request! With Eileen facing a jury over the future of Bombshell and Julia preoccupied accidentally stumbling into yet another affair she didn't see coming, everybody else takes a second to stage a series of increasingly Fosse-esque numbers for the world* to see (* it's on Bravo, so by the world, we really mean like twenty people). And Ali and Olly are re-united after their week apart with tales of Alabama, The Ferryman, and Marie's Crisis.

Team Karen vs Team Ivy

The Dramaturg

EAli and Olly fall head over heels for Peter Gilman, the newest addition to Bombshell's creative team (Ali maybe a little too much), as the Liaisons musical emerges and Derek is finally convinced that Hit List might not be a burning pile of garbage (that Karen Cartwright always was a deceptive one...).

The Fallout

EAs Bombshell crumbles under the mighty fist of whoever it was Jerry sent a sneaky text to in the last episode, so does Julia’s motivation to go anywhere but the Bronx Zoo even though Tom needs her at a gala! Derek’s career comes under threat as SMASH makes #MeToo happen years ahead of its time, and meanwhile Ali and Olly reflect on how much is too much to spend on recording equipment and what an absolute cabaret banger “They Just Keep Moving The Line” is.

With the Bombshell gang back in NYC and the show's future hanging in the balance, will the arrival of Jennifer Hudson be enough to stop a certain loose-lipped stage manager from sending Julia's marriage into yet more turmoil? Spoiler alert: it absolutely will not. Plus Ann reveals what she wore to convince SMASH's casting team she was stage manager material and performs Linda's eleven o'clock number from the cutting room floor!

The Best of Season One

EA la SMASH at the end of almost every episode, we hit the highlights with an entirely unearned montage of us laughing at the ludicrousness of season one.

The Best of Season One

Bombshell

EThe time has come to choose between #TeamKaren and #TeamPrednisone. With Rebecca out of the picture, it's time for one of our heroines to step into Marilyn's shoes, and if this show wasn't already six years old we might have a problem telling you that heroine is Karen Cartwright. History is made in Boston as Tom and Julia fight against the clock to pen the new finale, and Dev's secrets spill out like pills from a bottle. And back in this universe, Ali and Olly reflect on a treacherous season one as the champagne cork pops for the last time this year.

Listener Questions

EWith the season one finale just around the corner, Ali & Olly take a moment to answer your burning questions. If SMASH has ever had you asking who, what, when, where, and why, then this bonus episode is for you (translation: it's for literally everybody).

EPut down that peanut butter, Julia - the leading lady's allergic! As the first paying audience gets to see Rebecca DuVall's "unique" take on Marilyn, Dev attempts to deal with the guilt of cheating on Karen by taking every possible opportunity to meet up with his mistress. And as Uma Thurman's contract expires with one whole episode left in the season, the ever important question is back on everyone's minds; who's going to play Marilyn next? Back in the real world, Olly gets nerdier than ever with the SMASH trivia, and he and Ali debate organized religion vs the male anatomy.
