Marketing Intern Spotlight #62 - Mark Dowdle
EMark is an aspiring Ultra Marathon runner and defensive backs coach at the University of St. Thomas. Mark is our final podcast guest of the year and we couldn't have asked for a better person to cap it off. Mark has listened to us intensively for the last year and is the first guy in our inbox each week with ways in which guests have provided tools for his Backpocket. What you'll find out about Mark is he is one of the most mentally tough guys out there. After running his first marathon in September of this year, Mark has caught the bug for long distance training and has now signed up for multiple 50k's and even an Iron Man for 2020. Take a dive inside this man's journey and get ready for what this guy WILL accomplish next year. Every listener is a marketing intern. The Marketing Intern Spotlight (MIS) is a conversation with a marketing intern. This podcast is for the marketing interns by the marketing interns! If you want to be apart of the MIS movement, reach out to us at thebackpocketpodcast@gmail.com or by raven!

S3 E40 - Building the D1 Mindset (feat. Phil Esten)
EPhil is the athletic director at the University of St. Thomas. After being hired in January 2019, Phil has endured the adversity with St. Thomas getting kicked out the MIAC and responded with moving the athletic program to the Division 1 Summit League (effective in 2021 if accepted by the NCAA). From his time at the U of M where he lead the charge for building TCF Bank Stadium, to handling the 2008 recession at Cal Berkley, to changing the culture of athletics after the Sandusky scandal at Penn State, to now finally coming back home to his alma-mater St. Thomas is every implication you need to know that Phil is ready for anything that comes his way at St. Thomas. Enjoy!

Back End Show #38 - Piff Peterson
EPiff is a Tik-Tok creator from the Twin Cities. Back in December of 2018, Piff was helping film our final episode of Season 2 and told Declan "hey man have you ever heard of Tik Tok? It's this new app I'm having some success on" (not sure if that's exactly what he said but you get the point). At that point, Piff had 50k followers and by the time he came on our podcast earlier this year he had 150k. He currently has grown his following to over 2 MILLION followers and has had an incredible year being invited to the VMA's, Vid Con, and working directly with Tik Tok as one of the most influential creators on the platform. We catch up with Piff since having him on in March and unpack what an incredible year he's had and where he's going in 2020. Enjoy!

Marketing Intern Spotlight #61 - Tommy Bayer
ETommy is a 23 year old stand up comedian in the Twin Cities who started his career in comedy back during his freshman year of college at Winona State. During his time there, Tommy would donate his plasma for gas money in order to use his roommates car to drive to open mics and shows around the area. 4 years later, he now has won the honors of Funniest Person in Minneapolis, he performs in shows all over the Twin Cities, and is soon starting a podcast with fellow Twin Cities comedian Ryan Kahl. Enjoy! Every listener is a marketing intern. The Marketing Intern Spotlight (MIS) is a conversation with a marketing intern. This podcast is for the marketing interns by the marketing interns! S3 E39 - Win from Within (feat. Ben Leber)
EBen Leber is a former MN Vikings linebacker, Fox Sports College Football color analyst, and Vikings sideline reporter. From being a small town guy in South Dakota, to playing under Bill Schneider at Kansas State, to getting drafted by the Chargers and later playing for the Vikings, Ben has one hell of a story rooted in humility. We chat with Ben about what it's like playing under Rex Ryan at Kansas State (21:00), getting into broadcasting after his NFL career (41:45), and what we subscribe to when it comes to porn star names. Enjoy!

Back End Show #37 - The Interns
EWe have our trusty interns back in the studio one last time before the end of our 3rd season as a podcast to say thank you. Intern Sam got us off to a hot start for the first 5 months and Intern Ty finished and elevated our season in ways we could have never expected. It's an all around great time on this podcast as we catch up on what a year it's been Enjoy.

Marketing Intern Spotlight #60 - K Jay the Comedian
EK Jay is a stand up comedian, an actor, and a writer in the Twin Cities. K Jay found his way into the Twin Cities through basketball when he came up to the cities looking to play in the NBA for the Timberwolves in the 90s. Shortly after he became a teacher and, after the recession in 2008, he found comedy. K Jay's experience in comedy through the last decade was a treat to hear. Not to mention he was the first comic to give Declan his first show. This man is littered with nostalgic stories which made for a great podcast. Enjoy! Interested in going to Declan's FIRST COMEDY SHOW? Find your tickets here. Every listener is a marketing intern. The Marketing Intern Spotlight (MIS) is a conversation with a marketing intern. S3 E38 - Hiking the PCT (feat. the Broshat Brothers)
EMatt and Mike Broshat are twin brothers who recently finished hiking the Pacific Crest Trail - a 2652 mile hike that starts in El Campo, Mexico and travels along the Pacific Coast all the way to the US/Canada Border. With trail names like Store Brand (Matt) and Trash Can (Mike), you will soon realize these guys made the most of every resource they had on the trip making for some great stories. With only 25% of people successfully finishing the PCT, it was very impressive to hear how two brothers who've never hiked before accomplish the trail in 6 months time.

Back End Show #36 - Austin Jochum & Mark Amick
EAustin and Mark are dear friends and hosts of the weekly fitness video series - Anatomy Tuesday. Each week they feature a different muscle group providing useful information regarding functionality, mobility, and long term health. We dive in on big news with Jochum opening up his very own gym, Mark's experience after a full year in the wonderful school of chiropractic, and the creation of Anatomy Tuesday. Enjoy!
