#23: Octavius – one Rasta’s journey

EOctavius Wright’s mission is to inspire, enlighten, uplift, and spread positive vibes. Octavius and I met in 2011 at an open mic night at Seville Quarter in Pensacola, Florida. I was an exchange student there at the time. We quickly became friends after we jammed on stage (Octavius on lead vocals, me on guitar, Chris Ozuna on drums, and someone I didn’t know on bass). Through the years, we kept in touch by giving each other a call once or twice a year. We met again in 2018, when Octavius attended my wedding. Octavius gave up a stable life in Texas to travel all over the United States on a journey to inspire, enlighten and lift people up. He sold and gave away all of his material posessions, bought a train ticket, and headed West. We talk about this incredible journey at length, as well as Octavius’ life story of music, the meaning of life, what makes people tick, how he inspires everyone around him, and doing hard time. A great chat with a lovely human being who I am honored to c...

#20: Living out of a backpack in Australia for a year

EIf you plan on going on a serious backpacking trip to Australia, this episode is for you. About this episode Oliver and I met in 2016 whilst we were backpacking up the East Coast of Australia. We quickly became good friends when we were learning to surf during a bootcamp-style week of riding the waves. After traveling in a group all the way up to Brisbane, we went our separate ways. Oliver has the best stories of that little era, as he went into the desert to work on a melon farm. The outback is filled with colorful characters, and the hilarious stories shared in this episode reflect just that. After traveling through the Whitsundays and all the way up to Cairns, Oliver moved down to South Australia to work on an orange farm, which was a different, but equally interesting experience. After that, he went West to work at a dolphin sanctuary. All in all, there are many good travel tales in this episode with one of my favorite people from the United Kingdom. The show Episode contents 00...

#18: Rock ‘N Roll lifestyles

EToday’s guests on The Polarizer Podcast are a very wild bunch: MickeyFentross, Roderik Faasen, Aad Bak andAmerildode Krijger. About this episode The most appropriate name for this episode is “Rock ‘N Roll lifestyles.” There are four guests on this show, two of which who wandered into the room unexpectedly. It turned out they all had some incredible stories to tell about the wild lives they lived. I’d definitely like to have them back on in the future. Along the way, they passed through several rural towns, visited the largest nightclub in the world, and ended up getting threatened with a rifle for taking a leak on someone’s property.
