Walking Writers Podcast-Episode 18: Finding Your Vibe

Hello Walking Writers, This is a quick update to let you know I haven't forgot about you or completely ditched my blog and podcast. I know everyone has busy lives so I will keep this post short and sweet to the best of my ability. Over the past few weeks I have pushed myself harder to work on my writing outside of the blog and podcast. Although I love doing both, the main reason I am here is to tell you about the things I experience while establish myself as a professional writer. Over the last year since graduation, my word count has fallen and almost become non-existent with my fictional writing work. Maybe it is all for a reason as I have mentioned before on the podcast, if you are keeping up with me there as well. I am starting to find the flow again, although it isn't at the output as I did when in school, I am keeping up with a discipline and remaining focused on the overall agenda to output work that people would like to buy and experience stories from my voice. Expanding the...

Walking Writers Podcast-Episode 17: Coming up with a routine and following a discipline plus Graduate reading.

Episode 17 is one of my favorite episodes so far. sometimes I can believe I've made it this far into the Podcast without quitting yet. This episode is all about discipline and finding a routine that works for you. The best way I can describe how I put my work down on the page is taking one word at a time, then sentence, then paragraph. Maybe this is why the podcast continues to come together is because I break it down into small pieces so I don't get overwhelmed too easily. I do believe in having a plan for those planners out there, but there is something that is so organic about being a pantser, something that makes the writing feel alive an unrehearsed. When I sit down to write most the times I know what my beginning middle and end look like but not always. I think if you listen to my reading from my thesis for graduation last June you will hear...

Walking Writers Podcast-Episode 16: Put one word after the other.

Episode 16 is about finding that time to write and making it a discipline for yourself to put words down on the page and make something out of nothing. Sometimes the hardest thing is looking at a blank page, but know that every writer faces this and you're not alone. Quick updates with myself and my writing journey, and this month is National Poetry Month, so pick up some poetry and do some reading. Have a great week and I'll see you on the trail.
