Episode 10 - Tackling Overweight/Obesity Rates

70% of the USA's population is either overweight or obese. 1 in 2 adults is overweight, while 1 in 6 kids is either overweight or obese. That is not okay! We need to combat these rising rates! They are not dropping anytime soon unless we do something about it. Well what can we do? I believe these 6 areas are where we should be focused: Movement, nutrition, habits, medicine, sleep, and stress! Not one of these things is the answer to this issue, but it certainly is a start. Our lifestyle now-a-days is comparable to torture you would see on TV. The victim isn't allowed to sleep, lacks food (nutrition), and isn't allowed to move much. We are doing this to ourselves every single day! Lack of sleep, lack of nutrition, and lack of movement. Why would you want to torture yourself? Take action today! Tune in and learn more. Episode 9 - 10 Signs of a Bad Personal Trainer

Sadly, the Health and Fitness world is cluttered by bad personal trainers. I am sure you know of one or have seen one. It is important that we "weed" out these bad trainers. From my past experience here are 10 signs of a bad personal trainer. 1. They are on their phones. 2. They don't check form. 3. They aren't warming up, cooling down, or stretching with their client. 4. They don't push their client. 5. They aren't allowing the client to progress. 6. They don't check up on the client. 7. They don't track progress. 8. They don't motivate, support and guide. 9. They don't have empathy. 10. They don't believe in you / help you believe in yourself. Episode 7 - Eating For Nutrition

Nutrition is the sum of ALL the substances we put into our bodies. Nutrition to me, is providing my body with love and care through food and drink so I can be the best me. In this episode I cover a wide variety of ideas and considerations to provide your body with the BEST nutrition. Why we all need to stop the typical "dieting" and just start eating for nutrition. How keeping a food journal will allow you to see what works well for you and your body and also what is having a negative impact on you. Weight loss and weight gain boils down to your calories IN and your calories OUT, while other things matter, this is the leading driving force! You must understand the type of food you are eating, the nutrients that make it up! You must be able to read and understand nutrition labels. When deciding what type of food, or how much of food to eat, figure out these 6 nutrition factors before you make your final decision. 1. Your goals play a huge role in how you should be eating. 2. Episode 6 - 5 Things to Love & Hate About Brazil

As an American living in Brazil for over a year now, I have had my fair share of experiences here. There is so much to love and adore about this beautiful country, but there are also some not-so-nice things. The later of course, is not meant to hate or bring Brazil down, they are just my personal opinion as an American living in the awesome State of Minas Gerias, here in Brazil. The bureaucracy and corruption here is very ugly. The poverty levels and street animals is even worse, its heart wrenching. The overall functionality of life here seems to make simple things hard. Things also seem to be a lot more expensive here in Brazil, among those things is technology, which doesn't always work the best. Onto happier thoughts, there is plenty to love about Brazil! The weather is perfect, all year round. The people are so beautiful, so caring, so loving and giving, it is incredible. The food here is beyond tasty. Even the simple foods here taste amazing! Acai, churrascarias, padarias, and...

Episode 5 - Weekend Recovery (cheat meals/alcohol)

The weekend is what most live for. Enjoying some drinks with friends, enjoying that big burger on Saturday night, enjoying a bowl full of ice-cream, the weekend is when most "let go". WHICH IS TOTALLY FINE! But MODERATION needs to be kept. Moderation is key. It is not a cheat meal, it is not an indulgence, if you do it often! Your body can benefit from the drinks, from the extra calories, as long as it is only once in awhile. More often than not, you have to stay the course of eating right. Cheat meals and drinking keep us sane. We are not robots, we are human beings. We are allowed to enjoy ourselves! Over saturation from cheat meals and alcohol can be very beneficial for one's body. Most times, actions are required after a cheat meal or a night out drinking, it is important to listen to your body so you know what you need to do to recover. Apply a "give and take" or a "take and give system" for balance. Make sure you are hydrated with water, before, during, and after! Get your bod...

Episode 3 - How to Create Habits: 101

Habits control our day to day lives without us even knowing it. Habits will make or they will break the results you want. In the realm of Heath and Fitness habits are a MUST. Willpower and motivation are limited resources that can only be used for so long! Habits are how you execute and stay the path long term. There are 3 parts to a habit: the cue or trigger, why the habit starts, the starting point. The habit or routine itself, and the reward that follows the habit. Our bodies aren't smart enough to know whether the habit is damaging or positive, we are simply chasing the rewards. Step by step, we can break down the 3 parts to a habit and begin to create the habits that we want so we can finally see the results we want. Know your triggers, make your habit easier to start, and have rewards that reward you back. Only work on ONE habit at a time! Start simple. Start specific. Make sure the habit can be tracked.!
