ECalifornia will put just about any damn thing on the ballot if you can get enough people to sign your petition and $2000 to sink into getting it through the bureaucracy. We talk about all the great forms of direct democracy we have here in California, some of the big time propsitions that have had lasting impact over the years, and introduce ourselves to Dr. John Haynes, one of the wokest rich white guys of the turn of the 20th century. Finally, I am really mad at myself for not working a reference to the Simpsons episode where Lisa fakes her way onto the nightly news by claiming she is against proposition 305 (reduced bus fares for war widows). EWhen you're a school child in California, 4th grade is the year you learn all about the history of this great state. For some of us, that meant reading Island of the Blue Dolphins and making models of missions out of flour, salt, and water. For others, it meant a trip to one of Orange County's top 3 theme parks for none of the possible fun and all of the mandatory education!
