Episode 12: Fez, The Shining, and The Silence of the Lambs

Caleb and Ted get the (literal) bad taste out of their mouths and jump right into Fez - the 2D* platformer with a twist (ha). The discussion about the groundbreaking and mind-bending game quickly turns (ha) to its creator and the culture surrounding games before shifting (ha) to the game's sound design where the guys have a disagreement. From there we hear how much Caleb just ADORES (read: abhors) the horror genre of film, particularly those that leave a gigantic piece of it to interpretation like The Shining. Silence of the Lambs gets quite the nod from Ted, and a minor one from Caleb but they both agree: not even Jodi Foster herself can look back on that southern accent and defend it.. Also, Caleb has never seen Jaws or Top Gun ... and Ted has never played Portal 2.

Episode 11: Nintendo's Fyre Festival

The guys start with some (literal) coffee talk before diving into everything from "achievement (trophy) gaming" to using Minecraft as a way to create storyboards for movies. Caleb and Ted both confess their love for Roller Coaster Tycoon which is now available on iOS and other similar games, while Ted gives a relatively deep dive into The Handmaid's Tale. Finally they discuss the lunacy that is Nintendo's console nomenclature and release pattern as well as the #FyreFestival (look it up - you won't be disappointed) inspiring a movie less than two days after its disastrous ending.

Episode 9: Hey Arnold!

The guys catch up on what Caleb has been playing (Kingdom Hearts - but why??), what Ted has been watching (Big Little Lies - wait, what??), and industry news. There was nothing this last week in film or video game worlds except the Scorpio announcement from Microsoft. So instead Ted and Caleb just talked about 90s cartoons like Hey Arnold!, Catdog, Roscoe's Modern Life and more! Just kidding. da da da Duuh Duuh da da da Duuh Duuh dun-dun-dun-duuuuh... Listen to this Episode Obi-Wan! You're our only hope!

Episode 8: The Huddle

It's time to discuss some picks! Ted and Caleb dive right into discussing their most recent picks. First up is Silver Linings Playbook, which didn't resonate with Caleb the way he'd hoped it might, but both of the guys enjoyed its nuanced portrayal of mental illness. Next, they discuss The Intouchables and its uplifting, if not somewhat predictable, series of touching vignettes from the lives of two extraordinarily different people. Lastly, Ted shares his thoughts (and complex theories!) on Inside while Caleb reaches for a whiteboard. To wrap things up, the next picks are revealed to be The Birth of a Nation, The Triumph of the Will, and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
