About Us

My name is J. Alejandro, and I am creative with a dayjob. Come along as I experiment with strategies to stay productive, present a reading every now and then, and offer pep talks for that work/life/creativity balance. Make art, make haste!

CD13 - A quiet pep talk when the fam is not around

I just decided to record with my lavalier mic as I enjoy a few minutes of free time. Big changes at the day-job affecting the recording schedule, and a pep talk for those of you out there with jobs that haven't seen your creative side yet. May the 4th be with you! Find out more on the Creative Drive website.

CD12 - An honest lesson in reality to keep us bright

Changes are coming at the dayjob, and they led me to ask myself if doing this whole creative thing is still worthwhile. Also, "Glass of Water" one of my favorite songs I have written, ends the show. Make art, make haste. Find out more on the Creative Drive website.

CD11 - No More Late Night Sessions, Go Prompt Yourself, Poetry at Work

On this day, I come to the conclusion I can't keep recording so late at night on Sundays. I start a new experiment to record during the week in ten minute increments. I also cover the task of using poetry writing as a breather at work. In closing, I share a reading of what I wrote on my break, as well as a recording of a demo that the tragic characters from Prompt Number 13 gifted me: "Ever Felt." For prompts to jumpstart your creativity, check out my prompts on instagram. Find out more on the Creative Drive website.

Road Journal 4.10.19

Back to the basics. When I started Creative Drive, I recorded all of the segments in my car throughout 2018. It's a great feeling to record on the go that I thought I would bring it back for some bonus episodes! New Creative Drive coming soon, but in the meantime, I hope you join me on the go! CD10 - Exhaustion and Schedule Flexibility Pep Talk

Late night pep talks are back! On this go-round of Creative Drive, I come to terms with the exhaustion that overwhelms a content creator who can only work late at night on a Sunday, the repercussions of that creative effort, and the power of a flexible plan. Also, work guilt. Is that a thing? J's Accountability Report on the latest Idlewind short projects using the #icprompts on Instagram. A Reading from yours truly "An Ode (to the election settling dust)" Make art. Make haste. Find out more on the Creative Drive website.

CD9 - Projects Getting Done! #writingcommunity, Myers-Briggs

What do you know? I'm actually writing and putting my theory to the test: Whether I can be productive making bite-sized content and still have a life. #writingcommunity on Twitter and how it kept me from deleting my Twitter account! Just a few thoughts on Myers-Briggs and how this newfound INFP will try his best to not revert to type. Also, thinking of incorporating Myers-Briggs Personality Types into character building activities. This one goes out to my grandfather who passed 10 years ago. I close with a track I recorded in his memory. Share your anecdotes of being a working class creative, email or voice message! Find out more on the Creative Drive website.

CD8 - Priority Lists, Messy Work Areas, and Our Forgotten Projects

On this episode, I am surprised by the charity of my good friend Dust Jones as he lets me borrow another mic to use to troubleshoot some podcasting issues. Here's what I cover on this impromptu episode: My priority lists to keep me from wasting time on my phone. Spring cleaning begins and it starts with the writing den. How I am dealing with my old projects that won't go away. How do you deal with yours? Share your thoughts or anecdotes about being a working class creative at 307 228 4353 or email me at idlewindwy@gmail.com Find out more on the Creative Drive website.

CD7 - The old tools just might work, 2 Debbie Downer Poems

This tape recorder I found at work as a metaphor. Can we be creative the way we used to be? Or do we acquire new skills? Should I go back to writing on paper for my own good? Also, I picked the worst poems today. Two excellent poems (not Debbie Downers at all). Mostly about solace and come-uppance, you know? Light stuff. Make art. Make haste. Find out more on the Creative Drive website.

CD6 - You Need Rest, No Submissions, Poetry Reading

Just a brief reminder that you, the working class person/artist, need rest. Go easy on yourself. A change of plans on the submissions policy for the podcast. And a reading from my writing vault "Lonely Great." Find out more on the Creative Drive website.
