EP437 Use of Parkinson’s Law

Parkinson's Law is the adage that work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion. Imagine allocating ten days for a seven-day task. Youâll probably spend the whole ten days working on it with hours filled with excess research, analysis, and even stress! The interesting thing is it works the opposite way, too! That means that if you take that same seven-day task and allocate four days to it, chances are youâre going to get it done on time. As a manager, you might want to consider setting shorter timetables as this shows that looming deadlines are motivating. In this episode, Ken Courtright shares how you can make use of Parkinson's Law to counter procrastination and counterproductive tendencies and hit your targets constantly.  Love the show? EP435 He Failed, Give Him Another 65MM

When someone fails at leading anything that involves millions, would you still believe in him or her leadership? Ken Courtright shares the story about the biggest case study he discussed on the plane with someone - the downfall of Delta Airlineâs attempt at making a low-cost carrier twice and asking the same person to lead both attempts. With this misfortune, Ken poses the question, âAre you giving yourself an eye exam?â Don't do the same mistake and re-examine leadership in your company. It is better to move forward with somebody who wins at leading, taking action, and producing better results. Love the show? Subscribe, rate, review, and share!
