Transcendent Values and Principles

For organizational leaders to build excellent organizations requires submission to the transcendent values and principles of the Creator who singularly has the authority to define TUP. This means that organizational leaders need to be students of Scripture seeking to comprehensively understand TUP so that they can discern right and wrong in every area of organizational behavior: leadership, management, ethics, team building, finance, sales, marketing, pricing, service, customer support, personnel policies, and so forth. In every area, organizational leaders must engage in discovering TUP as revealed in Scripture to properly lead organizations and produce the fruit that pleases the Creator.

City of Man vs. City of God

Wise organizational leaders and managers understand that organizations exist to serve the will of God. Accordingly, they recognize that all stakeholders, by default, are not inclined to align with God. Therefore, organizational leadership must proactively engage in training all stakeholders to align with the values, principles, and practices that emanate from a Christian worldview. A culture marked by repenting from the default thinking of fallen mankind and embracing biblical thinking is a predicate for building an enduringly successful organization.

City of Man vs. City of God

Consequences of Fig Leaves

In a universe created by a spirit being, spiritual reality is primary and physical reality is secondary. To enjoy sustained blessings and favor in the physical universe requires proper understanding of and alignment with the Creator. Management must always recognize the importance of alignment with the will and ways of the Creator. When misalignment occurs, the organization’s ability to function properly will be impaired. Misalignment is sin, and sin has negative consequences. Sin, such as the wrong gospel, will manifest in people’s work product. Wise managers will learn how to discern sin in workers by evaluating their work, knowing that excellent work product is rooted in sound theology.

The Curse of Legalism

Management must build organizations with stakeholders who live submitted to the lordship of Jesus and, therefore, are being sanctified by the Holy Spirit. Attempting to build with legalists is building with people who are under a curse; the end will be judgment as happened at the Tower of Babel.4 A true Christian lives under the lordship of Jesus submitting to his will and ways. Wise management understands that to build a God-honoring organization requires building with humble, submitted, and teachable people. Therefore, management must identify the legalists in the organization and seek to remediate them. If they cannot be remediated, they must be replaced.

Finding Your Goshen

Kingdom management is bringing order out of chaos, that is, aligning everyone and every initiative in an organization with the will and ways of God. Management must always seek this objective with all stakeholders. One aspect of alignment with God is the prudent use of debt. Management should always be aware of the peril associated with the imprudent use of debt associated with Keynesian economics. Given the record levels of global debt, at all levels, there is looming peril. Wise management will recognize this risk and seek the Lord for wisdom to prepare for a financial reset by finding and/or establishing modern-day Goshens for the people of God.
