Fresh...Aahhh... Just some DJ Mixes of some Good music for the people of the world, care of Yours truly, DJ Slopoke do it first, do it yourself & keep on doin it. San Francisco’s DJ Slopoke has been spinning hard-to-find deep soul, hard funk, and more on 45s around the Bay Area for the last decade. Slopoke is a lifelong collector who prides himself on his extensive record collection and dedicates himself to providing the best possible dance and listening experience possible. He was responsible for The Attic bar in The Mission being named winner of “The Best Place to Pretend That Drum Machines Never Ruined Music” category in SF Weekly’s Best of Awards. You can hear DJ Slopoke every Wednesday at The Church Key in North Beach and on the first Saturday of every month at the El Amigo Bar in the Mission.

This is a 3 pt. podcast with the 1st part devoted to the years prior to the popular release of Rap records. The 2nd part is concerning some of the earliest Hip-Hop and Rap records, incl. King Tim III, which is widely regarded as the 1st? Rap Record. Also on that set a nod to the West Coast with Capt. Rapp, and a joint from K-Hollywood out of San Diego CA, 1983. Last but not least is a lil mix I put together regarding the "Roxanne" phenomenon. I read somewhere that there are more than 50 "Roxanne" records, but I only own 11, and I only play like 6 or 7 of 'em. Peace DJ Slopoke do it first, do it yourself, and keep on doing it...
