Kahvi #413: Jim Black / Elysian Underground

'A warm welcome back to Jim Black, who seems to appear with a large selection of tracks a couple of times a year. If you're not familiar with Jim, he manages to create the vibe of the classic early 90s techno/IDM roots perfectly, bringing back feelings of nostalgia to those who listened to Kiss FM (London) and DJs like Colin Favor. This time around we have a seven track ep to ease you towards the party season, block driving beats, four to the floor, but with a 21st century edge.'

Kahvi #414: Curious Inversions / Spire

'Curious Inversions is one of the regular Kahvi artists, and you're probably familar with his subtle and detailed work, coupled with epic basses and building atmospheres. Spire is no different and draws on his previous releases, including elements of Tangerine Dream, Global Communication and The Orb. Easy listening for the buildup to the Christmas release.'

Kahvi #415: 4T Thieves vs Pandacetamol / Dot

'It started as an idea, to get some sounds from Pandacetamol and then see what can be created with them. And then evolved into an entire EP. The tracks have been a few different versions, with entire rewrites (such as Flunk and Try) to additional layers (Pick a Number and The Punchbox). The result after a few weeks of different ideas floating about is this EP. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed working on the tracks! 4T Thieves & Pandacetamol Cover artwork by Precocious Mouse'

Kahvi #416: Various / Escapism

'This time around, the VA Christmas release is a more chilled out selection of tracks is mostly ambient or chill, with a couple of more beat driven tracks mixed in for good measure. Mainly unreleased artists have been showcased this time around, with a few regulars (4T Thieves, Rephazer, Faex Optim) appearing and a lot of up and coming talent which may appear on Kahvi in the future. Designed to let you drift into your thoughts, imagining distant unknown places beyond the stars. Cover artwork by Precocious Mouse. Full tracklisting on the bandcamp page. Enjoy this years compilation and see you in 2019!'

Kahvi #417: Various / Forms

'Just before Christmas, Curious Inversions came up with the idea for our next artist challenge in the shape of a 'Secret Santa' challenge. The challenge was to create a track using at least some of the sounds from sample packs, along with a few additional sounds such as bass, percussion from the artists own collection. Seven sample packs were created by seven different artists, and then randomly distributed. The result is what's now known as 'Forms'. Clicking on info will show you the original artist who created the sample pack used. If you want to take a listen to the original samples, you can download the packs from the link below: Sample packs can be downloaded from here: kahvi.micksam7.com/kahvi417_forms_samplepacks.zip'

Kahvi #418: Fluffy Inside / Fluffy Inside

'Fluffy Inside (otherwise known as Pandacetamols more trance related alter-ego) brings us Fluffy Inside EP, a seven track riot of oldskool-trance-idm-acid-vibes. More experimental using authentic 90s era sounds, Fluffy Inside takes you back to the roots. '

Kahvi #419: NNYz / Aetiology

'NNYz? was last seen back at #375, and he returns to Kahvi with a short but sweet seven track EP called 'Aetiology'. Highly detailed textures with glitchy beats, field recordings and IDM arps combined into simply named but exotic sounding tracks. Track of choice: 4am for deliciously sweeping eighths for emotive spine tingling nostalgia. '

Kahvi #420: John Novak / The Moon is a Strange God

'John Novak appeared on Kahvi a couple of times previously, both showing his versatility of different styles, from popular mainstream melodies, to IDM inspired by Tangerine Dream and Chemical Brothers. This time around he's back with passages of ambience, interspersed with addictive melodies in the shape of his new album 'The Moon is a Strange God'. Eight tracks of sublime chill, drifting between the stars.'

Kahvi #421: elAstrum / Freqmod

'We're heading back to the 90s with this album by guest artist elAstrum, heavily influenced by Kraftwerk and Orbital, and chip music from 80s home computers such as the Commodore 64. Extreme retro vibes with those addictive, glitchy melodies that those of a certain vintage can very well remember. Exciting, harsh, melodic and retro in 15 tracks.'

Kahvi #422: Hardwired / Liminal

'We've featured Hardwired before in a previous VA compilation, but thought it would be good to feature the man again in his own EP release. Liminal is a selection of works from Hardwired back catalogue. Some retro sounds (angular), very autechre sounding work (folding rna) and even Boards inspired (2nd last dream, 3rd last dream). Mellow, chilled out, atmospheric, in time for the summer sun.'
