Yo! Go Vote!

Flashing back to American Doll Posse and Tori's need to "stand up" in a political way. I quote from an MTV.com interview with Tori in which she tells us "You have to be able to think for yourself and not get manipulated". Tori's Yo George is sampled in Mikkey Halsted's “King George”, part of Yes We Can the Mixtape. I found it here on Youtube. A treat for you when Halloween is celebrated at The Examiner with Santa as Angel and Tori as Devil. The link will bring you to the latest posting, so you'll need to hunt around on the side for the Tori Halloween article. You can read Ann Powers article about Pink and her song Glitter in the Air bearing "the mark of Tori Amos" at the L.A. Times. Talking Tori is now on Twitter at TalkingTori on Twitter. Yes, Talking Tori is now on Twitter

Yes, that's right. I have set up a twitter feed at twitter.com/talkingtori. In today's podcast, I talk about the new twitter feed (ok, now I'm really repeating myself, I'll move on). I also give you some background on the upcoming CD and DVD release of Tori Live at Montreux. And I dig up a 2005 blog entry by Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls in which she has some very interesting things to say about Tori's influence on her. For the original entry, please read Dresden Dolls Diary. Please listen to today's podcast.

The Eve of the U.S. Tour

The U.S. tour begins tomorrow in Albany, NY. I'm going to attend the two New York city shows at the WAMU theater. My excitement is building. Can't wait. In today's podcast, I pretty much gush and go on and on about how excited I am that the tour is starting. If you're in the U.S., I hope you are also scheduled to see Tori on the ADP tour. The opening act, Yoav, sounds intriguing. You can hear some of his music on his myspace page. Beck meets Jeff Buckley meets Bjork. Sounds good to me. Please listen to today's podcast.

Finally Finland

As Tori tours, clips from her performances are turning up around the net. There are a host of interesting clips on Youtube. I particularly enjoyed Tori's performances in Finland from June. Search "Provinssi and Tori Amos". Or "Finland and Tori Amos" and you'll find alot of cool clips. In today's podcast, I discuss two insightful interviews with Tori. You can find them at Tingen.org and Popmatters American Doll Posse brings out thought provoking themes regarding women and the state of today's world. Today's discussion includes the point that Tori raises: it's no longer solely that the personal is political, today - the political is personal! Please listen to today's podcast

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to our favorite MILF. Today's issue of the UK newspaper, The Independent features an interview and great review of American Doll Posse. Tori talks about her daughter's influence on the new album. Tori made a number of media appearances this week on U.S. television and satellite radio. She's been receiving some great reviews for American Doll Posse. I suggest two really good music references for you to check out, Allmusic and a terrific podcast, Soundopinions which recommends that everyone run out and buy Tori's new cd. Please download today's podcast.

It's Getting Serious

It's getting serious - American Doll Posse comes out May 1st and Tori will be broadcast live on Sirius Satellite Radio that night. You can sign up for a free 3-day internet pass to Sirius at Sirius.com. And 80 lucky people who are first to buy American Doll Posse on May 1st at a certain Barnes & Noble in New York City will be able to attend the live show. On today's podcast, I also discuss why you may want to re-read Pieces of Tori by Tori and Ann Powers. I also discuss a recent release by Patti Smith that features a cover version of a song that Tori once covered. Please listen to today's podcast.

Loose Women

Watch out for Loose Women. Specifically, Tori appeared on a recent UK show on the telly called Loose Women. Very similar to the US gab-fest, The View. Do a search on You Tube and check out Tori chatting with the ladies and performing Velvet Revolution and Programmable Soda. Tori appears in her "Tori" persona, not as Isabel - which I mistakenly say on today's podcast. Also check out the Big Wheel video available at Yahoo Music and You Tube as well as other places online. You can win Tori merchandise by entering the following contests: http://www.spin.com/insidespin/2007/04/070419_toriamos/ http://www.epicrecords.com/contests/we_toriamos/ http://www.starpulse.com/Contests/30gb_iPod_and_Tori_Amos_American_Doll_Posse_CD/883/ Please listen to today's podcast.

Countdown to May 1st

We're back! After a ridiculously long absence, Talking Tori returns. In today's podcast, I discuss the upcoming release (on May 1st in the U.S.) of Tori's next work, American Doll Posse. It promises to be really interesting, with Tori making some strong political and social statements. I also talk about why you may want to pre-order American Doll Posse on iTunes (did I mention pre-sale codes for the U.S. tour?). Finally, I comment upon Tori's recent defense of Britney Spears and her bizarre actions (Britney's bizarre actions that is, not Tori's!!!). Please listen to today's podcast.

What's In Tori's Piano?

I am holding A Piano in my hands. Yes, join me on today's podcast as I open up the new Tori Amos CD boxed set, A Piano: The Collection (released on Rhino Entertainment). I'll walk you through what you'll find and help you decide whether this 5 CD set is something that you've just gotta have. As an aside, Rhino Entertainment generally releases really great compilations. One example is "No Thanks! The 70s Punk Rebellion" which features Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Ramones, Jonathan Richman's band The Modern Lovers, Patti Smith, Ian Dury and a bunch of other notables who started off alternative music as we know it - Rhino's website is right here. You may also be interested in checking out AOL Radio starting October 5th for their all-Tori radio station. Should be cool! Here is today's podcast.
