Not Taking Ourselves Too Seriously With steve.

EWe interviewed our new friends Ky and Zach in steve. (Very matter of fact). We talk about lack of representation in music and how asking for it on your shows can make booking more difficult. We also talk about how it’s important not to take yourself too seriously, and then we go on about how Mark Hoppus ruined Blink-182.Check them out at steveband.comsteve. on TwitterJoin the club!Youtube: http://bit.ly/2ShQhVeTwitch: http://bit.ly/2BHLZBnFacebook: http://bit.ly/2TVWrfkTwitter: http://bit.ly/2DS1bx9Instagram: http://bit.ly/2TY8wReFollow us!Brian: @spookypants1 http://bit.ly/2PZxPUNLizzie: @bordenbathory http://bit.ly/2E4SUXt

Our Music, My Body Returns!

ELife is cyclical sometimes. Around the same time last year, our friends at Our Music, My Body were the first people to be interviewed on our podcast & we are very happy to have them back on! We catch up with Maggie and Elle & update some important elements about sexual assault, consent & the new question of: "what is coercion?" They also discuss a very rad initiative for musicians who want to be proactive in creating safer spaces in venues. Want to support more? Come out on Wed., Nov. 20 to Emporium in Wicker Park at 9pm for Emo Karaoke! All donations from the door + raffle goes directly to OMMB. Looking to volunteer? Check out their socials to find out how to spread awareness in the scene! Need some more background about their mission? Check out our interview from last year: https://open.spotify.com/episode/3jtNhO11BUtRVfPfpiFwMa?si=-eGq4mvkSn-nW15RP_HEoQ We'll see ya rockin' out on Wed. Night! Which emo bop are you gonna sing?

I Spent A Fall Day Interviewing Proper. To Help Make The Scene Better

EWith Brian at work and out sick, we invited former guest and friend of the Pod, Ariel Atkins of BLMChicago to help us interview the POC, queer band, Proper. With heavy inspo from Say Anything (all hail the Bemis) and The Wonder Years, Proper. brings two heavy hitter albums that will make you reflect on your adolescents and gain a new perspective from those who didn't fit into the "traditional" sphere of the emo/pop-punk scene.

New Music Rundown

EThere was a lot of new music that just came out - let's talk about it. But first, we have to chat about the fires in the Amazon. A lot of anxiety and feelings of depression have come up due to the climate crisis, and with the lack of reporting on the fires, we wanted to discuss what's going on and extend support to our listeners going through anything. We have linked below ways to help, as well as resources to learn more. But as always, take care of yourself first. Then we talk music - The 1975, Dying In Designer, The Band CAMINO, Proper., Knocked Loose, and Taylor Swift, it's been a big couple weeks for some tunes. Be sure to let us know your favorite (and anything we missed) on our socials!
