About Us

Heavy Metal History is a weekly podcast, created by Dustin “Wildcard” Koetsch, whether through narration with in depth research into how the bands made the records or having guests from metal bands to discuss various influences, histories of their bands and the behind the scenes stories, struggles and triumphs of how their records were written and recorded. The ONLY podcast that goes through the chronological history of the Heavy Metal genre on a month by month album by album basis to see how it evolved and changed. Our aim is to bring you one of the most comprehensive and in depth podcasts about the entire history of the genre.

Jon Leon (White Wizzard)

Welcome to this weeks episode of Heavy Metal History. In our first episode of 2018 I talked with Jon Leon, Bass player of the band White Wizzard. Jon came on to talk about their new record "Infernal Overdrive" which drops January 12th. Jon also spoke at length about what the band was up to during the 5 year "hiatus" between records and what prompted bringing back original members as well as vocalist Wyatt "Screamin Demon" Anderson (who makes a brief appearance at the end) All this and more in this episode, and be on the listen to Jon's absolute crushing of all things hippie related. Its brilliant. Thanks for listening!

Jamie Hanks (I Declare War)

Welcome to this weeks episode of Heavy Metal History. Joining me this week on the podcast is Jamie Hanks, singer of the band I Declare War. Jamie came on to talk about a few records that started his metal journey, but the conversation quickly became a more deep, insightful thoughtful look into metal music as a whole. October 1987

EWelcome to this weeks episode of The Heavy Metal History Podcast. October of 1987. A month that saw a monumental release from a band from Brazil, the legendary Sepultura, a band that defied geographical odds to get recognized in an American dominated genre up to this point. Exodus falls in line with other legendary Bay Area thrash bands and released “Pleasures of the Flesh” an album and band that often gets overlooked in conversation about “big” thrash bands. Finally a band that would have members who would all be legendary in their own right with a little help from Dave Mustaine, Sanctuary would prove to be the catalyst for the likes of Warrel Dane and Jeff Loomis. Albums we discussed this week: Sepultura - "Schizophrenia" Exodus - "Pleasures of the Flesh" Sanctuary - "Refuge Denied" Like us on FACEBOOK - TWITTER - INSTAGRAM Download us on iTunes Download us on Google PLAY
