Recent polls show President Trump’s approval rating has dipped into the thirties, and the same polls show him losing head to head to Biden, Sanders, Warren, Harris, and even Pete Buttigieg. This should be welcomed news for Democrats and give them a lot of confidence going into 2020. However, many prominent Democrats are still very worried behind the scenes. What worries them is that the Overton Window has noticeably shifted to the fringes of the Left in the Democratic Party, and their eventual candidate will be out of touch, even for centrist within their own Party. What worries these centrist Democrats the most about the fringe Left and ‘Twitter Mob’ driving policy in the Party, and how are 2020 candidates making a mistake by trying to appeal to them?

Everyone knows the Washington Post and New York times are the newspapers of record. If the Washington Post or the New York Times makes a claim it is reported as a fact by subordinate news outlets whether it is indeed a fact, or not. However, sometimes these two papers do not get it right and instead of fact checking these papers, networks and subordinate news outlets continue to echo the misinformation as a fact. It’s an interesting phenomenon, because for the past three years these two papers have been keeping a running tally of all of the exaggerations, misleading statements, and lies from President Trump, but one must ask, who is fact checking the fact checkers? How trustworthy is the tally of President Trump’s “lies”, and how does his tally compare to other presidents such as his predecessor, Barak Obama? For three years we have heard that Donald Trump is a Russian agent and virtual manchurian president taking orders from Vladimir Putin. For longer than that we have heard that Donald Trump is a raving racist, a white supremacist, and white nationalist. By now these accusations should be ridiculous to rational, thinking, people. The Russia narrative has been investigated by Congress, theFBI, a Special Council, and no conspiracy has been discovered. The racism trope has become boresomeand equally ineffective at delivering the knock out blow to President Trump. Now his rivals have latched on to another (R) word in an attempt to damage him politically: 'RECESSION'! How effective will this new tactic be, and is there a real threat of a recession? How is the trade war with China fueling the fears of a recession?Join the conversation and get answers to these questions and more on According2Sam episode #41.

Now that the Robert Mueller investigation is in the dustbin of history what have we learned? The entire ordeal ended with a wimpier in a sad last ditch effort in the House of Representatives to get Mueller to testify to something that could be used to impeach the president. Mueller testified a total of 6 hours in front of the Judiciary and Intelligence committees, and apart from destroying his own credibility and legacy, he did little to assist the Democrats in those committees in their goal of convincing the rest of their caucus to support launching impeachment hearings. We learned Robert Mueller had a tenuous grasp of key elements of his report and he may not have been in charge of the investigation. If Mueller wasn't in charge, who was, and did they have any conflicts of interests? What are some of the major concerns with the final report, and how did Mueller answer tough questions about those concerns? Democrats and the media haveyet again latched onto one of President Trump's tweets as evidence that he isracist. The tweet uses no names, no races or colors, no culture or ethnicity, and no specific nation or government, but it is still being called "racist". The tweet does mention "Progressive Democrat Congresswomen" and suggest they take their progressive political ideas to "the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how [it's done]." This is NOT racist. It's brilliant! If the radical ideas that are being promoted by "progressives" in the Democrat Party are so great for America there should be evidence of these ideas working in other parts of the world. This would give America successful examples to emulate. What was the full context of the president's tweet, and how did the Democrats and media try to spin it to frame him as a racist? How is it backfiring on them?Join the conversation and get answers to these questions and more on ...

Every issue seems to be viewed through the lens of race, gender, and identity for Democrats. Whether it’s the crisis at the border and the current immigration discussion, or the issue of abortion and the pro life/pro choice debate, all issues come down to identity. In fact, you’re not even allowed to have an opinion about an issue if you are the wrong race or sex without being called and racist, or a sexist. However, the tables have turned and the seeds of identity politics are sprouting weeds in their garden, with accusations of racism now being hurled at prominent Democrats. Will the focus on race and identity be more of a help or hindrance for Democrats in the 2020 election, and how can they quiet the loud voices within their ranks that are agitating the status quo?Join the conversation and get answers to these questions and more on According2Sam episode #37.
