Our guest today is Roger Simmons. Roger isa Community Coordinator for FVCA & Cross-Cultural Instructor / Facilitator for CrossInCulture. He grew up in section 8 housing in the West of Elgin and now he works in the same communities in which he grew up. He tells the redemptive story of how he almost became a drug dealer and explains what it looks like to Thrive in the hood. We dove in and talked about racism, welfare, and systematic discrimination. When was the last time you dialogued with someone who was a different color than you? Maybe you should give it a try. Also, go drink a (very) little bit of coffee.
