Thriving In A Hostile Culture: Human Kingdoms--Progress or Regress - Week 3

This week we dive into Daniel 2 to consider the image from Nebuchadnezzar’s dream and the stone that obliterated it. The image represented human kingdoms, regimes and empires. The stone that grew into a great mountain filled the earth and represented God’s kingdom. One lasts for eternity. The other declines and degrades. Where do you place your hope? Thriving in our post-Christian culture means running up against the myth of prepress, but staying firm in our faith means we hold to the hope that God holds out to us. Who is the stone who established God’s Kingdom? Jesus!

Thriving in A Hostile Culture: Thriving in A Hostile Culture - Week 1

This week we start our Fall series on the books of Daniel and Esther. To begin we will look at Daniel 1:1-8a. We will spend time considering the parallel between Daniel and his friends being displaced (exiled) to Babylon, a hostile culture to what they were used to in Jerusalem, and the culture we find ourselves in today that is almost entirely against the Judeo-Christian underpinnings of our country. To call Toronto post-Christian is not a stretch at all. But how has God asked us to live as a minority in such a culture? For that we look to His encouraging words to Daniel and his friends in Jeremiah 29:4-7.

Echoes of Eden: Further Steps With God - Week 5

This week we look at the manna and water experiences from Exodus 16 & 17. Israel had been delivered from Egypt, but their journey with God was not over. They had so much more to discover about him. As their food and water ran out, the Israelites complained bitterly. God, however, didn’t punish them, but graciously cared and provided for them. As you journey with God, how is he calling you to take further steps in your knowing of him, in trusting him, and in knowing yourself as he lovingly cares and provides for you?
