Martin Kariuki - How do we respond when someone hurts us? The last verse of 2nd Samuel 11 ends with the words, But the thing David had done, displeased the Lord Chilling words to finish a chapter on. God had not given up on David though, He sent Prophet Nathan to confront the king. Truth: How you respond to being hurt tells a lot about how you see yourself. (Not who you are) Let us turn the spotlight to ourselves now; how do you respond when someone tells you that you have hurt them? "When Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. David goes through a season of confession and true repentance. True repentance comes from realising how fallen and vulnerable we are, and how much God has had mercy on us. David realises that Sacrifice, without obedience and repentance, amounts to Good works, not a transformed or transforming life. Many years later, Jesus shows the re

Martin Kariuki - Question: Have you ever planned something and it was a complete failure? Either because it did not happen, or it was the complete opposite of how you envisioned it? On a more convicting note, Have you ever tried to cover up a mess, only for it to become messier? We have the right intention, but we all know that its the direction we take, and not the intention we have, that leads us to a destination. We cover it up by blaming others, We cover it up by playing the position card. If you are a parent, or someone with responsibility over other people, you may have fallen into this trap. We cover it up by justifying it. Classic case of the end justifies the means. In our endeavour to control outcomes in our lives, (Or to be in-charge of our lives) we end up moving further and further away from Gods will. Ron Hay - Paul is at pains here to show that his gospel of justification by faith is no novelty. It is not something he dreamed up. He uses the example of Abraham to show that this is Gods one way of salvation in the world of the Old Testament and of the New. We learn vital things here about salvation, guidance and the nature of faith.

Ron Hay - At the end of this month we celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. Todays sermon focuses on the heart of Pauls gospel salvation by grace through faith which transformed Martin Luthers life and sparked the Protestant Reformation.

It's the heart that matters

Ron Hay - Paul continues to put the spotlight on believers and says its not having the law (read Bible) or being circumcised (read baptized) that counts but living in obedience to God. God is above all interested in our hearts a true believer is one inwardly and what counts is circumcision/baptism of the heart.
