Why avoidance is a TERRIBLE strategy

A common mistake that many of us make in life is avoiding things that get the getter of us. Sometimes it's a person. Sometimes it's a food. Sometimes it's a situation. And while avoidance can be an effective short-term strategy, it's a TERRIBLE long-term strategy. A better and more powerful approach is to teach yourself how to confront and deal effectively with that thing that used to flatten you. In today's show I will highlight how I used this strategy to cure my over-eating problem.

3 mindsets that helped me lose 25lbs

A major mistake most of us make in any area of life where we are looking to create change is to jump into a bunch of things we can DO. But our problem isn't a problem because of what we do. It's a problem because of how we THINK. It's how we think that influences what we do. So the solution is simple. Start changing how you think and that in turn will transform what you do.

Everything is figure-out-able

We all have areas of our life where the obstacles seem so overwhelming that we think success is impossible. In today's episode I want to share a new mindset that challenges the notion that anything is impossible. Given enough time, testing and perseverance, any problem will fall because the reality is, everything is figure-out-able, but only if you believe everything is figure-out-able.

Building your ground zero skills

Here is a hypothetical to consider. If you lost everything today (financially speaking) and you had nothing but a laptop and an internet connection to start again from scratch, what skills do you currently possess that would allow you to start making money tomorrow to get yourself back on your feet. I call those ground zero skills and in today's episode I'm going to do a deeper dive into what those are, why the are vital and share a few examples to get your creative juices flowing.

The power of making relationship deposits

Did you know that a relationship transaction occurs each time you come in contact with another human? You either make a deposit, a withdrawal or you have no impact at all. In today's episode, I'm going to talk about the Relationship Deposit Mindset and how the power of those deposits spreads to others (it's contagious in a good way) who become raving fans of yours without ever having met you.

The awesomeness of aging

So tomorrow I turn 54. One of the things that I am determined to do over the second half of my life is fight every ridiculous notion that there is about aging so that I sprint into my 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and beyond. And one mindset I firmly believe and know to be true is we can teach ourselves anything regardless of age. In today's episode I'm going to go into a a few more details about why I'm excited about getting older and why you should be as well.

Think like Warren Buffett

I thought I would take you behind the scenes and share something from my journal. One of the most challenging aspects of building a successful body is the emotional flattening we experience when things continually don't go the way we planned. In today's episode, I share some thoughts on what we can learn from Warren Buffett and the ability to think more rationally.

Turning failure into wisdom

Failure is always something that has gotten the better of me. But recently I came up with a creative way to deal with it. When it happens now, I capture it (no more running from it) and extract the wisdom from it. In today's episode I share an entertaining story of exactly how I do that.
