Episode 36 - A Dog In The Fight. Michael Vick & Race

Former NFL players Michael Vick & Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson planned a mini football camp for young kids a couple of weeks ago here in Louisville. However, the news was meet with quite a bit of opposition by some animal rights activists angry about his conviction for dog fighting, despite the fact that Vick has paid his debt to society and has spent the last decade working with the Humane Society. In this episode, we examine the racial double standard of the second chance narrative and try to answer the question "Do Some Whites Value The Lives Of Animals More Than The Lives Of Black Kids?" Louisville media personality and animal rights activist, Tara Bassett and political pundit and activist Jaison Gardner join me in this discussion.
