#JusticeForDJDay

EToday - October 3, 2019 is #JusticeForDJDay.As many of you may already know; I (Heather) co-host another podcast called Status Pending with Scott Fuller. DJ was the inspiration behind the entire podcast Status: Pending.DJ's case has had such an impact on me that I want to spend my 30th birthday today, spreading the word about DJ; will you help me?________________On October 3, 2016, a gun went off and a 911 call was made. Responding officers find DJ shot in the face. He’s deceased. Witnesses claim someone else in the home - a one-time romantic interest of his wife Brandy’s - shot and killed DJ. Some say accidentally, some say intentionally.Members of DJ’s family can’t believe that DJ would kill himself, and some sheriff’s detectives don’t buy the suicide. But the state’s crime lab and a medical examiner disagree. And so nobody has ever been charged with the death of Donald Edward Fickey, Jr.Since we released the case on Status: Pending, Amanda (DJ's sister) has been tirelessly working to ensure that the GBI looks into her brother's case. She has reached out to tons of podcasters as well as YouTubers and even folks with the Investigation Discovery Channel to share her brother's story.____________You can sign the petition to help bring this case in front of a grand jury! This is an important step to get Justice for DJ! You can visit change.org and search for “help support justice for dj…” and the petition will populate. Your signature can help! Bonus #2: Old Sparky (Part 2)

ECapital punishment has been a part of Ohio’s justice system since early in the state’s history. From 1803, when Ohio became a state, until 1885, executions were carried out by public hanging in the county where the crime was committed. In February of 2002, Ohio's 105-year-old electric chair AKA "Old Sparky" was unplugged. At this point in time, it hadn't been used for 39 years! It was transferred to the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville until the Ohio Historical Society decides what to do with it. So, what happened to Old Sparky? In part 2 of this bonus episode, Heather is joined yet again by the amazing Karen to tell you all about how the death penalty in Ohio led to Old Sparky’s birth and demise. If you haven’t listened to part 1 yet, please stop and go back to part 1 to obtain the full understanding. Part 2 has more information about the urban legend(s) surrounding Old Sparky as well as some pretty interesting historical information and pop culture references.Subscribe to: Disembodied Special thanks to Karen (@disembodiedpod) for her help with this episode! EBefore jumping into the case, I wanted to first say that this episode is going to be a bit different than you’re used to. Normally, I will focus on one county in Ohio...but for this one, I will discuss a duo of criminals who traveled across 6 states and multiple counties within Ohio to commit their gruesome crimes. I will tell you, before delving into the case, that listener discretion is advised. I will be discussing their crimes, some in detail, and some involving children.I think that this case is important to share though as there are so many moving parts and layers to it. I will discuss the death penalty pretty heavily as well, so I wanted to warn you ahead of time about that. Some of the Ohio cities mentioned in this case are Toledo, Dayton, Cincinnati, and Norwood. These cities are located in the following counties; Lucas County, Montgomery County, and Hamilton County. This is the case of murderous lovers; Alton Coleman & Debra Brown.Promo: Voices for Justice – hosted by Sara...
