About Us

It’s been said that music has charms to tame the savage beast. Well, as one cancer patient said to our host Cathy DeWitt, it also can calm ”the savage disease.” Join Cathy and her guests as they share meaningful moments when music has helped them through times of crisis, upheaval, and transformation. Meet professionals who have seen the powerful effect of music as a therapeutic interventionin health care settings, schools, and memory care facilities. Hear the amazing stories from caregivers, patients, and students who have experienced these musical transformations.Joining Cathy will be many musicians who are part of the Positive Music movement, and they will describe their own personal experiences with music, and how it helped them in their lives. You will also be immersed in these musical moments through live and recorded performances on the show. Write in and tell us about your own meaningful music—we may share your healing journey on the air! This program sponsored by The Traveler: New Music to the Words of James Dillet Freeman. Join the conversation at The Traveler Blog! The ideas and opinions expressed on this program do not necessarily reflect the teachings of Unity. Pete Seeger: Legend, Icon, Musician

Legendary folk singer and icon for peace Pete Seeger died at age 94, but his legacy lives on in his music and his spirit. At age 90, he was seen marching in the streets of New York for the Occupy movement. Pete never doubted for a minute that music could change the world and have a positive impact on humanity; he himself is the ultimate example of that. In the early part of the New Millennium, Cathy DeWitt was able to spend several hours with Pete, interviewing him, jamming with him, and photographing him on the banks of his beloved Hudson River. Tune in to hear in his own words how and why the ship Clearwater was built, how he became a sailor, and how he feels about politics and music.
