About Us

Visit us on the web: http://mystmatthews.org/ Thanks for joining us here. St. Matthew's began with a handful of people in 1828 as a Methodist Society and has been serving the greater Richmond area ever since. Our desire is that we would be an authentic, biblical community where people learn to look, live, and love like Jesus. St. Matthew's is striving to be a place where people who are searching can encounter God and find a place in his kingdom and community and join him in his work in the world. St. Matthew's is a United Methodist congregation located near the intersections of Goochland, Hanover, and Henrico Counties in Virginia. Mission Statement: Our mission is to Reach Seekers, Build Believers, and Serve the World.

This Week in Worship. Luke 4 marks the beginning of Jesus’ earthly ministry and highlights a feature of Jesus’ life. He was grounded in Scripture. Jesus used his knowledge of scripture to resist Satan’s temptations and define his ministry in the testing in the wilderness. As followers of Jesus, we too are called to develop the discipline of studying the scriptures on a daily basis. We will discuss that as disciples before we can bear fruit for the kingdom we must first have roots. The roots of discipleship are nourished through continuous study of the scriptures.
