PNE Podcast Pre-Season Return 27th June 2019

With the first team back for pre-season, the Official PNE Club Podcast has the latest as preparations build for the new season. Following the squad’s return we’re back to take you through what’s been going on at PNE in anticipation of things getting underway for the new season. We catch up with goalkeeper Declan Rudd, Maintenance Manager Paul Bradley and former North End favourite Scott Laird. Having played 36 times in the Championship last season for the Lilywhites Rudd talks about his excitement at returning ahead of the start of his third consecutive season as a permanent member of the playing squad. After consolidating his position between the sticks last season, the No.1 is well aware of the competition for places in the goalkeeping department. Plus having seen his boyhood side Norwich City achieve promotion against the odds last season speaks to the podcast about the open nature of the Championship explaining the importance of a thorough pre-season. With the same playing surfaces installed at the stadium and training ground during the off-season, we catch up with Deepdale’s Maintenance Manager Paul Bradley. He explains the busy nature of the work he and his team have had ensuring the stadium is in a pristine condition ahead of the home friendly with Southampton on the 27th July as well as the first Sky Bet Championship game at Deepdale against Wigan Athletic on 10th August. Meanwhile former North End left-back Scott Laird joins us to explain his decision to step out of professional football in the EFL upon leaving Forest Green to sign for Weston-Super-Mare. Despite the season being over, the latest Official PNE Club Podcast is still here and the latest episode is now available featuring PNE legends Graham Alexander, Sean Gregan and more! This week’s episode is dedicated to this season’s popular feature ‘Star Six’ as we count through the 84 individual players picked by former North End favourites throughout the course of the season to bring you an all-star team. Amongst those picked is Lilywhites legend Graham Alexander. ‘Grezza’ talks to us about his first spell at Deepdale and the strength of character that group had first under David Moyes to win the Division Two title in 2000, before going on to reach the Division One Play-Off Final a year later. He also speaks about the frustrations of missing out on reaching the Premier League with PNE, again after suffering heartbreak in the Play-Offs against West Ham in 2005. Sean Gregan, another popular pick amongst his ex-teammates also joins us to reflect on being named in the side. Ahead of the final game of the season the latest episode of the Official PNE Club Podcast is now out! Following on from the Player of the Year Awards, and final home game of the season, this week we have plenty of fallout for you. PFA Community Champion and Community and Education Player of the Year Louis Moult speaks to us about his work away from the pitch. The striker, who’s work this season has included helping out at the Foxton Centre, explains the importance of helping and building strong links with the community. Ben Davies speaks with iFollow PNE, having won both the Sir Tom Finney Award, voted by the supporters, and the Club’s Player of the Year Award. Former PNE defender Liam Chilvers joins us to reflect on the final home game of the season against Sheffield Wednesday. He shares his thoughts on the vibrancy of the young squad that has been assembled at Deepdale, as well as giving his opinion on both the attacking display put on by North End and the debut of goalkeeper Conor Ripley. Following on from the Easter period, ahead of the final home game of the campaign the latest Official PNE Club Podcast is out now. This week we catch up with on-loan forward Lukas Nmecha. The young Manchester City star speaks exclusively to the podcast following the defeat in Wigan Athletic but having doubled his account for the Lilywhites with a brace against Ipswich on Good Friday. The 20-year-old details how much he’s learned during his season-long stay at Deepdale, during what has been his first loan away from parent club Man City and a first taste of regular first team football. Paul Gallagher, having captained the side at the DW also shares his thoughts with iFollow PNE, after a frustrating day at the office against Wigan. Former North End forward, turned summariser with iFollow PNE, Brett Ormerod also joins us this week. He reflects on a largely positive season for North End given the circumstances with injuries and tough start to the season. Having seen plenty of the Lilywhites through the Easter period, and duration of the season, the former frontman believes there is plenty to be positive moving into the summer for North End. Away from the first team we check in with Academy Manager Nick Harrison. Having reached the FA Youth Cup Fifth Round it has been a successful season for the academy, who also played in the Lancashire FA Youth Cup Final at the weekend. Prior to the busy Easter programme, including Friday’s Retro Day at Deepdale, this week’s Official PNE Club Podcast is now out. There’s plenty in store this week on the podcast, following the news manager Alex Neil has agreed a new three-year deal with the club, to midfielder Ryan Ledson’s ambitions for the rest of the season and a look ahead to Retro Day. Good Friday’s game with Ipswich Town is this season’s designated Retro Day. It is an opportunity for supporters to dig out old kits and come along and reminisce at Deepdale, though this year it is also in aid of former Lilywhites full-back Gary Parkinson. Joining us on the podcast this week to talk about his dad, who suffers with locked-in syndrome following a stroke in 2010 is Gary’s son Luke. Luke explains the work he and the rest of his family put in to supporting his dad through the work of the Gary Parkinson Trust. Away from Retro Day, our focus this week on the podcast centres around manager Alex Neil. Dave Seddon from the Lancashire Post joins us this week to talk about a busy time at Deepdale following rumours and speculation ahead of last weekend’s trip to the Hawthorns. Having signed his new contract you can also hear from the manager, who’s been speaking with iFollow PNE. Midfielder Ryan Ledson also gives his thoughts to the podcast, from a player’s point of view. He shares his views on the manager securing his future to PNE as well as his own aims for the rest of the season. With four games left to play the former Everton and Oxford man admits he still has plenty to play for as the season enters it’s final weeks. ‘Talk of the Terrace’ this week features Toronto Wolfpack halfback Ryan Brierley, who tells us all about the rigours of supporting PNE! The latest Official PNE Club Podcast is now available ahead of the back-to-back home games with Sheffield United and Leeds United. This week we catch up with striker Sean Maguire. The forward, who scored the dramatic winner against Birmingham City ahead of the international break, reflects on the return to action down at Reading on Saturday. Having seen plenty of the Lilywhites through the Easter period, and duration of the season, the former frontman believes there is plenty to be positive moving into the summer for North End. Away from the first team we check in with Academy Manager Nick Harrison. Having reached the FA Youth Cup Fifth Round it has been a successful season for the academy, who also played in the Lancashire FA Youth Cup Final at the weekend. With the likes of Adam O’Reilly and Ethan Walker both having made first team debuts during the course of the season Harrison is pleased with the development of a number of his young stars. Former North End winger Chris Sedgwick, who joined Saturday’s opponents Sheffield Wednesday after his time at Deepdale, shares his memories of the best players he turned out with. Prior to the busy Easter programme, including Friday’s Retro Day at Deepdale, this week’s Official PNE Club Podcast is now out. There’s plenty in store this week on the podcast, following the news manager Alex Neil has agreed a new three-year deal with the club, to midfielder Ryan Ledson’s ambitions for the rest of the season and a look ahead to Retro Day. Good Friday’s game with Ipswich Town is this season’s designated Retro Day. It is an opportunity for supporters to dig out old kits and come along and reminisce at Deepdale, though this year it is also in aid of former Lilywhites full-back Gary Parkinson. Joining us on the podcast this week to talk about his dad, who suffers with locked-in syndrome following a stroke in 2010 is Gary’s son Luke. Luke explains the work he and the rest of his family put in to supporting his dad through the work of the Gary Parkinson Trust. Away from Retro Day, our focus this week on the podcast centres around manager Alex Neil. Dave Seddon from the Lancashire Post joins us this week to talk about a busy time at Deepdale following rumours and speculation ahead of last weekend’s trip to the Hawthorns. Having signed his new contract you can also hear from the manager, who’s been speaking with iFollow PNE. Midfielder Ryan Ledson also gives his thoughts to the podcast, from a player’s point of view. He shares his views on the manager securing his future to PNE as well as his own aims for the rest of the season. The latest Official PNE Club Podcast is now available ahead of the back-to-back home games with Sheffield United and Leeds United. This week we catch up with striker Sean Maguire. The forward, who scored the dramatic winner against Birmingham City ahead of the international break, reflects on the return to action down at Reading on Saturday. Despite the result, the Irishman is remaining upbeat ahead of two crucial games in North End’s season as Sheffield United come to Deepdale on Saturday, prior to the visit of Leeds United on Tuesday evening. Having seen injuries lead to a stop-start campaign for Maguire he tells the podcast he’s hopeful heading into the last seven matches that he can play his part and contribute to a success campaign with a top six finish still a in the squad’s sights. Former North End captain Sean Gregan is also on the line this week to give his thoughts on how his former side have fared this season. Reflecting on his time at Deepdale the former midfield general talks about the pressure on sides at this stage of the season, with the Lilywhites battling in out to take one of the play-off places come the end of the season.
