BizzleCastTV: JESSICA JONES "AKA Smile!" S1E13 Commentary by The Bizzle

SEASON FINALE! “AKA Smile…” is this the true JJ smile we’ve been waiting for? The final confrontation with Kilgrave is Breaking Bad-level amazing, but not for the reasons you are probably expecting, and is one of the great climaxes ever on television. Throw in some Rosario Dawson - God bless her - killing it with her fresh and unique brand of naturalistic acting, as the connective tissue between Matt Murdoch, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and all future Defenders properties. Speaking of Luke - whose own show is about to come out as of this posting - we finally see him definitively un-Kilgraved and has some great exchanges with Rosario. Malcolm returns, not only forgiving Jessica but becoming perhaps her biggest advocate and follower other than Trish. A perfectly wrapped up single season but leaving the door open for the second season which we know is happening — all I can see is MASSIVELY HUGE props to showrunner Melissa Rosenberg, JJ creator Brian Michael Bendis, Marvel head honch...

BizzleCastTV: JESSICA JONES "AKA Take a Bloody Number" S1E12 Commentary by The Bizzle

For me, the “funeral” for Ruben by his twin Robyn and Malcolm (“you put him with the fishes?”) and their extremely heartfelt but understated attempt to move on with their lives together and restore their faith in humanity is the best part of this episode; even if it is somewhat peripheral from a plot standpoint, great character drama is never peripheral in terms of the soul of the series: “Goodbye Ruben! I hope they have free express shipping in Heaven!” And how many constructions of “Kilgrave” can we coin in a single episode in my quest to determine how far back Luke Cage was first Kilgraved? Before the investigation of Reva in Episode 6? Before they ever slept together in the first few episodes? You could (and I do) spend all day figuring out the logistics, mechanics, and applications of Kilgrave-ing. Scary to think if we’ve ever seen the “real” Luke before. But with Luke Cage’s own show dropping September 30th, maybe we’ll get some real answers. Oh, and David Tennant...

BizzleCastTV: JESSICA JONES "AKA I've Got the Blues" S1E11 Commentary by The Bizzle

Easily one of my favorite episodes, because we get tons of young Trish (Catherine Blades) and young Jess (Elizabeth Cappuccino) who play their younger selves to a T — two spectacular young female actors — and of course the deliciously evil stage mom of Trish, Mrs. Walker: “Patsy’s going to save you!” JJ discovering her powers after her accident and adoption by the Walkers and the genesis of Jessica’s protection over Trish, even (and especially) from her own mom. The Krav Maga pays off big time for Trish, although she almost gets herself killed fighting psycho ex-boyfriend. And of course the rock flautist, “Blowing.” Did I mention JJ and Trish (Hellcat?!!?!?) kicking ass together??! Queue up you Netflix S1E1 to 0’0”00, put on the subtitles, and let’s ride.
