FedRAMP introduced an expedited version of its authorization process called FedRAMP Accelerated. The US General Services Administration used this redesign to advance cloud.gov, which runs on AWS GovCloud (US). With cloud.gov, government agencies can quickly deploy applications including highly sensitive workloads that comply with federal policies; run scalable cloud-native applications; try experiments: build and test prototypes without adding extra expense; and shorten the path to Authority to Operate (ATO) for applications hosted on cloud.gov. We'll take a deeper dive into this last one to discuss concrete steps for how developers can approach the Assessment and Authorization process, the use of DevOps and agile methodologies, and the role of security automation to speed ATO.
