About Us

FGC Philosophy is about leveling up inside and outside the virtual arena. Learning from Fighting Games and the FGC as a whole we can grow together. As a competitive player, I strive to always improve and I want to share that knowledge with others. I also know that what you learn in one area of your life can be applied to other areas of life.

#34. How to Build Muscle Memory and Why It's Important

EHey all, I've been thinking about the bests way to improve. One topic I want to revisit muscle memory. I've been learning many things at my job at Western Michigan University and as such, I started to notice teaching certain topics proved difficult. Similarly, I found explaining how I played FANG in SFV to be challenging. I realized that I had internalized many of the sub-skill required to perform tasks. As someone who enjoys teaching, I found this curious. Recently I've decided to learn Akuma in SFV. I wanted to start from scratch and train in a more productive manner. I wanted to develop the most important skills and commit them to muscle memory. I wanted my body to naturally reach without having to think about what to do. I knew that this would free up mental spaced to think more deeply about my opponent and his/her tendencies. This episode is a short dive into this topic. Be sure to share your thoughts in the comments section. -The Philocypher https://twitter.com/ThePhilocypherT...

#33. My Experience Hosting My First Esports Training Camp

EHello All, It's been a crazy 4-5 weeks but it's finally over! I've finished running my first summer camp focused on personal development and competitive gaming. These were week-long camps, and we did 4 separate weeks. 2 with 5th to 8th grade, and 2 with 8th to 12th graders. In this episode, MegaMaxStar and I talk about my experiences during the camps. I share what the curriculum was, how it went and what I've learned. At the time of recording this, I was just finishing up my second week. I plan to post another episode talking about my overall experience with working with the older campers. I'm super grateful to Western Michigan University for giving me this opportunity and I look forward to doing it bigger and better next year. One thing I have to address... My content has slowed down to nearly a halt. Much is happening in my life (mostly good) and as a result, my content is really taking a hit. On top of that, I've started to find my content stale and I have no idea of what directi...

#31. Life Updates and DBFZ 1.15 Patch Conversation w/ MegaMaxStar

EDBFZ 1.15 Patch Intro A few things I need to talk about. For those who want to get right into the DBFZ patch conversation you can skip to this time in the podcast. First, I’ve gotten very busy with parenthood and esports. I’m not a fan of the fact that my content has slowed down but other areas take priority. That said FGC is not coming to a halt, just slowing down until I can get back on all four cylinders. Second, I’ve learned three things I’d like to share with you. There are things I’ve learned the hard way from doing too much. I hope that these things can help you as well. Don’t bite off more than you can chew. I’ve had to humbly ask for help and reduce the amount of work I’ve been putting in. It’s Okay to say, “I’m doing too much and need to slow down.” This was hard for me to accept but after last week (which I’ll talk about in the next episode) I’ve had to cut back on what I’m doing. Be more organized. The more you’re doing the more important this becomes. As...
