About Us

David Nichtern is a senior teacher in the lineage of renowned Tibetan Buddhist master Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche.

David has been the Director of the Dharmadhatu Meditation Center in Los Angeles, Karme Choling Meditation Center in Vermont, and Director of Buddhist Studies and Practice at OM Yoga Center (NYC). He is also the co- founder of True Nature Meditation (Japan) and senior meditation teacher for Journey Meditation (USA). He currently teaches workshops and teacher training programs around the world and mentors individual students in person and online.

David is also a four-time Emmy winner and two-time Grammy nominee. He wrote the classic song, “Midnight at the Oasis”. A highly-regarded composer, producer and guitarist, Nichtern has played/ recorded with greats like Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Jerry Garcia, and Krishna Das. He discovered and signed Lana Del Rey to his Indie label 5 Points Records, scored Christopher Guest’s film “The Big Picture”, and produced scores and title songs for ABC’s One Life to Live and CBS’s As the World Turns for many years.

A sought-after senior Buddhist teacher, respected musician, and well-established entertainment industry vet and entrepreneur, David has been mentoring students in these three realms for nearly four decades.

He wrote a definitive book on a classic Buddhist teaching: Awakening From The Daydream; Re-imaging The Buddha’s Wheel of Life, released by (Wisdom Publications 2016). His much anticipated second book, “Creativity Spirituality and Making A Buck” will be released by Wisdom Publications in October 2019. Within it, he helps readers identify their creative path and aspirations in order to integrate them with their livelihood goals and personal well-being. Early reviews have likened it to “A next-gen Artist’s Way”.
