004 TFL Fargo Police Officer Dirk Thiedeman

Please welcome Fargo Police Officer Dirk Thiedeman. I can honestly say Dirk is one of the nicest people I have ever met and it is not a surprise to me that he chose a career in which he serves and protects people he doesn’t even know. Dirk became a Fargo police officer a few years ago and very shortly after that Officer Moszer was killed in the line of duty and it rocked the entire City of Fargo, even the state. We talk about that in our conversation as well as lighter things like stuff I’ve always wanted to know about police officers: What’s a beat? How did you pick such a scary career? How the heck do you stay in shape for this kinda stuff? Is police station coffee awful? It was an honor to sit down and chat with Dirk and I’m proud to be friends with him. He is definitely one of Fargo’s finest and do me a favor and visit him on social media ( @diggy197 ) and thank him for his service. He works hard on and off-duty to protect us! Enjoy! 003 Training For Lyfe Brandon Zylstra

Welcome to one of the most awesome conversations I’ve had around my dinner table, ever. With newly signed MINNESOTA VIKINGS receiver Brandon Zylstra and his college football coach Aaron Willits. We talked about a ton of stuff including how Brandon worked his way up through the ranks, fighting against circumstances that would discourage most people from even starting. One thing you’ll learn about Brandon from our conversation is his mindset. Obstacles don’t deter him, they motivate him. Setbacks don’t discourage him, they teach him. And opportunity doesn’t scare him, it excites him. Zylstra is the modern day embodiment of Dale Carnegie in that he does not criticize, condemn or complain. It’s like fighting from the bottom brings him vigor and vitality and he is *grateful* for the struggle. Every day is a new chance to prove himself. Find him on Instagram: @brandonzylstra

002 Training For Lyfe Michael Vespa

Have you ever wondered: *How to put 40-60 pounds on your squat without ever back or front squatting? *What’s the most under utilized movement in strength programming? *Why training with percentages is not recommended? Then this podcast is for you. My discussion with full-time CrossFit Fargo coach Michael Vespa will fill your head with the answers to all these questions. A powerhouse of knowledge, Michael studies human movement and was able to diagnose an entire gym’s primary deficiencies in less than a month. He has an amazing story from how he found CrossFit to how he came to become passionate about how we all move. He spends his time coaching and training athletes at CFF but he also provides individual and affiliate (currently in beta testing) programming via his online coaching business Ruthless in Pursuit. 001 Training For Lyfe Kish Hilmert

Today’s guest is Kish Hilmert and she is owner and Full time Trainer at Down Dog Studio here in Fargo. She is also the President and on the board at 4 Luv of Dog Rescue, a charity she accidentally started where she has helped save roughly 3,000 dogs since 2005. She is not only one of the most well spoken women I have ever had a conversation with she is also one of the funniest and most knowledgeable in positive reinforcement. I had an absolutely amazing time chatting with her at her studio learning about Positive Reinforcement and how to change behaviors in dogs AND humans. I brought my dog Rhea with and toward the end of the interview Rhea climbed right up on Kish’s lap and snuggled with her for the rest of the interview. Dogs and humans alike are drawn to her. And it makes total sense when you specialize in something so PAWSITIVE. Please enjoy the educational and enlightening discussion I had with her!
