Tip2day - That is Where He or She is for Now

Today's recovery tip today is the topic: That is Where He or She is for Now. During our first year of recovery, there so many changes that go on inside of us. And we need to go through them in order to progress to higher, clearer understandings. That is why a sponsor is important to progress safely beside their protection and guidance. Learn to shut down your mouth and your inner opinions of others as a living habit. And focus on yourself and where you are in your recovery walk. Now, close your eyes and listen to this new spiritual awakening we are going to hear. This will relieve you for ever and ever of ever having to be concerned about what others are saying and what others are doing and how others are behaving. Are you ready? Are your eyes closed? Listen and let this come into you. Everyone is doing the best they can. Everyone is exactly where they need to be. Everyone is going through what they need to go through. They're going through it to get to where they need to get. And t...

Tip2Day - Yes

Today's recovery tip of the day is about 'Yes'. When your recovery community ask you to do a task, answer your 'yes', with an exaggerated celebration. This is about a golden opportunity to fortify your personal for sobriety. Be happy for the gift to give. Let others see the importance of saying 'yes', through you in the community for recovery that you attend. P.S. Your higher power is watching!

Tip2Day - Do The Next Right Thing

Today's recovery tip for the day is about 'Do the next right thing'. "Did you know that he said; well, she said and they did". Let's just be the three monkeys and we cover our ears. And we cover our eyes and cover our mouth. And we'll focus on our Big Book and we'll focus on the Basic Text. Or we'll focus on the Big Big Book and we'll sure focus on what our sponsor tells us to do. As for you and me, we do the next right thing. Remember, a clean profile maintains that happy, joyous and free - clean and sober mind. So, do the next right thing.

Tip2day - Sudafed

Today's recovery tip is about Sudafed. That's right. Buy more Kleenex if you have a cold. But say "No" to Sudafed. Get yourself a holistic doctor, usually a good chiropractor. And, early in recovery start with back adjustments, neck adjustments and a nutritional vitamin program. Get your health back and feel good in sobriety. You can find a good chiropractor by asking your sponsor. Protect yourself and protect your sobriety. When your doctor asks: "are you allergic to anything"? Answer with a strong: "yes, alcohol and mind altering drugs". You're protecting yourself and your protecting your sobriety. Don't let anyone take it away from you or temp you (even a doctor).

Tip2Day - Think, Think, Think

Today's recovery tip for the day is about Think-Think-Think. As we all know in recovery, it was our thinking, our old thinking process, that got us here in the first place. When facing an issue, your first thought is the old thinking of your past. Hit 'delete'. Your second thought is your mind justifying the first thought of your old thinking from the past. Put it on 'pause'. Your third thought: is ask God and call your sponsor, if you need to. That's why we have the slogan: Think-Think-Think. Don't fall from doing that first thought. Always call your sponsor if there's even touch of doubt.

Tip2Day - Under Every Slip is a Slip

Today's tip for recovery is the topic is: Under Every Slip is a Slip. This refers to a petticoat, a piece of lingerie, more commonly known today as blue jeans. Under every pair of jeans (boy or girl's), there is a slip. The focus is on your recovery, not his or her recovery. Nor is the focus on how to help him or her with their recovery. Remember, people in recovery do not hurt or harm another human being. That means if we take another person away from focusing on their recovery, they will get hurt or harmed, should they slip over the new emotions too heavy to deal with early in sobriety by a romance. More people in sobriety relapse over this very issue than any other type. So, what makes us think that we are different and we're the exception? Under every slip is a slip.

Ep. 019 - Sponsor

Today's recovery tip is titled: Sponsor. The ideal sponsor is someone who is 5 to 10 years insobriety and still goes to meetings and still uses their sponsor. It's important that our sponsor has done the 12 steps, in order to guide us through the 12 steps (even if we already did the steps in the treatment program or are not). Trust your instincts, when looking for a sponsor. We do not want to pick a sponsor who seems like a great best friend. We've all gotten drunk and wasted with great best friends. Scope the rooms for that person who has the sobriety that you want. Take a big gulp, step right up and ask "Uh, Will you be my sponsor?". Remember, don't confuse sponsor with support team and buddies from rehab. We need a sponsor who has done the steps and is sober 5 to 10 years and still goes to meetings and uses a sponsor. These are what the old-timers used as a formula for finding sponsors and they did it pretty well!

Ep. 018 - It Is Only For A Period Of Time

Today's recovery tip is the topic: It is only for a period of time. When we first start out in recovery from drugs and alcohol, it's important to do a meeting a day (sometimes two meeting a day, especially on weekends). That is so that we can learn to deal with our body and mind still craving the drink or drug. So it is important to stay around folks in recovery, even if you don't know any of them. They've been through it. Share what you're experiencing. 50% of what you are feeling gets reduced by sharing it when you feel it. One of the reasons you are guided to do 90 meetings in 90 days is to be able to be in the right place to share or lessen the toxic of your mind. If you are from a faith-based fellowship, just introduce yourself in this way when you go to regular recovery 12-step meetings: "Hi, my name is Cindy and I have an honest desire not to drink or drug today. That is the only requirement for membership. So this too shall pass. It is only for a period of time. 90 in 90.
