Like Father, Like Son

Today we begin a new study of the book of Hebrews, and in this first sermon we look at the text that begins the book 1:1-4. In this series we are calling "Greater Than" we are looking to see the God as revealed throughout scripture, and God's revelation through his son Jesus Christ, as the greatest story that we can know and live. Discouragement is a reality that we all face, whether it is a bad day, a season, or something that we are simply predisposed to in our lives, we must be able to approach God in times of joy and in times of discouragement. Our anchor is God, and how God is revealed to us in all varieties of moments. Yet, we are particularly drawn to God as revealed through his Son.Jesus is truly Greater Than...So we start by proclaiming that Jesus is God's Son!

More than Good Feelings

In this sermon, we look at the notion that the church is supposed to be more than a group of happy people, but a group of holy people who are happy doing the will of God. In this pursuit, the church practices the disciplines of confession, repentence, and accountability to make sure our personal "dark sides" are kept in check and that the Holy Spirit of God is in control of the church body. A more healthy church is onedealing with thesins of the body and clinging to God.

They Are More

In this sermon, we make the claim that in a healthy church, God has given a variety of gifts to all members of the church, and so we must respect and appreciate each other's gifts. We ask the question:So, how do we work together to not only have a healthy church, but one in which members are working together, using their gifts, and no one is undervalued or overvalued? to do this we explore the text of 1 Corinthians 12:12-26. In the sermon, there is a reference to a video where the cast of The Greatest Showman performs "This is Me" which you can watch on YouTube HERE.

I Am More

Do you know that when you are baptized into Christ you are added to God's family? Do you know that the church is God's family and that the church represents Him to the world? Furthermore, do you know that you have been given a purpose and value in that family to be about God's business? We all have been given gifts to use, and so we need to know them and use them in our church families!

More than Names

In this last sermon of our Romans' series, we look at chapter 16. My love for this passage of scripture is deeply indebted to Fred Craddock's master sermon "When the roll is call down here" and my reflections reflected his as I thought about Paul ending the letter with greetings to those he loves, a word of warning, and praise to God. I hope you receive a word of inspiration and hope in this sermon, "More than Names."
