What Kind of God is God? How Do You Think He Speaks to Us?

1 Samuel 3:1-10 NLT Meanwhile, the boy Samuel served the Lord by assisting Eli. Now in those days messages from the Lord were very rare, and visions were quite uncommon. (2) One night Eli, who was almost blind by now, had gone to bed. (3) The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was sleeping in the Tabernacle near the Ark of God. (4) Suddenly the Lord called out, “Samuel!” “Yes?” Samuel replied. “What is it?” (5) He got up and ran to Eli. “Here I am. Did you call me?” “I didn’t call you,” Eli replied. “Go back to bed.” So he did. (6) Then the Lord called out again, “Samuel!” Again Samuel got up and went to Eli. “Here I am. Did you call me?” “I didn’t call you, my son,” Eli said. “Go back to bed.” (7) Samuel did not yet know the Lord because he had never had a message from the Lord before. (8) So the Lord called a third time, and once more Samuel got up and went to Eli. “Here I am. Did you call me?” Then Eli realized it was the Lord who was calling the boy. (9) So he said to Samuel, “Go and lie down again, and if someone calls again, say, ‘Speak, Lord, your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went back to bed. (10) And the Lord came and called as before, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel replied, “Speak, your servant is listening.” 1.GOD CALLS YOU BY NAME Isaiah 43:1 NLT But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you. You are honored, and I love you. 2.GOD’S VOICE IS CLOSE TO YOU AND IT’S SIMPLE John 10:10 NLT The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. 3.LET’S TELL THE NEXT GENERATION LIKE ELI 1 Samuel 3:8-9 NLT So the Lord called a third time, and once more Samuel got up and went to Eli. “Here I am. Did you call me?” Then Eli realized it was the Lord who was calling the boy. (9) So he said to Samuel, “Go and lie down again, and if someone calls again, say, ‘Speak, Lord, your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went back to bed. Face the Facts, Hold on to the Promise

Romans 4:17-21 NIV As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.” He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not. (18) Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” (19) Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. (20) Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, (21) being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. 1.HOLD ON GOD’S PROMISE 2.HOLD ON TO THE PROMISE GIVER Colossians 1:11 MSG We pray that you'll have the strength to stick it out over the long haul—not the grim strength of gritting your teeth but the glory-strength God gives.
