Himalaya: Listen. Learn. Grow.
On Wednesday, August 19, host Pam Marvin spoke with Fr. Jason Bonifazi, new Pastor at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan. In the first part of the show, Pam talked about hope during this back to school time, and the Saint of the Day, St. John Eudes, a French priest and founder of both the Order of Our Lady of Charity and the Congregation of Jesus and Mary. In the second half of the show, Fr. Jason talked about his life story and path to the priesthood. His first assignment as a Deacon was at St. Anthony’s, in Bryan, where his father is from. Fr. Jason was not raised in the Catholic Faith; his mother became Mormon during his upbringing and he grew up in that faith. It was in high school that he stopped going to church and had lots of issues with Mormonism. He began exploring the Catholic Church and going to RCIA while attending Sam Houston. As Fr. Jason began discerning the priesthood, he went to the Philippines on a missionary trip and was assigned to work in the seminary. He talked about how he came to accept the call to the priesthood, and how God spoke to Him through the events of his life. Listen to this episode as we welcome Fr. Jason to the Bryan College Station area, and remember to go and love your neighbor!
