The talented Anjana Srinivasan drops by The Gateway to share her lifetime journey of dedication to the violin. Anjana was born into a family that was strongly involved in the study of South Indian (Carnatic) music. Upon hearing the violin performance of Sri Lalgudi Jayaraman, Anjana fell in love with Carnatic violin-playing. Unfortunately there were no Carnatic violin teachers in Montreal so she studied Classical violin for over a decade until she finally got the opportunity to train with teachers in India. Eventually she met Sri Lalgudi Jayaraman and trained with his children. And now when she is not busy raising a family and working as a family physician she is the Carnatic violin teacher in Montreal that she never had.
