About Us

I can absolutely talk about food all day...everyday. But l also absolutely hate these freakin' boxes they put us in. So let me be clear...I'll be talking about a whole bunch of S%*T . Isn't that enough? I'll have guests on here that will be totally intriguing. People in my circle from all walks of life. You'll totally relate. AND THEN!...we'll talk about FOOD! How's that?

For me The worst part of dining out with a group of friends is the end. When the check comes. Unless you’re dining with that baller friend who is all about paying for everyone, this is the moment of truth. The moment when the table gets quiet as the server delicately places the bill on the table. enclosed in a pleather bound billfold or attached to a quirky postcard or ironically trendy abstract item is the moment that most of us start masking a very mild level 1 anxiety attack. It’s the one moment in the dining experience that most of us would rather eliminate but in the end it has to be dealt with. So what are some of the strategies one can implement to get through this sometimes awkward moment? I have ALL the answers!!

The US Open - Is Tennis Still Just for the Elite?

Tennis Anyone? This phrase is often used to characterize a particular genre of parlor room satire about the leisured upper class. Welp the US open officially started this week. Hey! It’s held in one of the most diverse cities in America. NYC! However spectator demographics tell another story.

Brooklyn Loves Haiti

Walking along the streets of gentrified Bed-Stuy after a disappointing meal at a local spot… We’re talking cultural appropriation y’all. Many tangents. Many stops to look into some windows (why no shades people?). Does my wearing a t-shirt proclaiming my love for Haiti, make me a cultural appropriator? In honesty, I was looking for validation… I got it. Mission Accomplished. Thanks to Mandisa, Marjeth and Folash for their contribution to this podcast.

Big Little Lies - Don't Believe the Hype

I am utterly confounded by the excitement behind this series. What the hell am I missing? I've scoured the internet (actually just the first page from a Google search) and I can't find one single like-minded person that agrees. There's just so much more wrong than right. Listen to find out why I think it's all a bunch of...hype.

THE INTERVIEW - Joseph Riley Land at the Fancy Food Show

The world of food is vast. I mean it’s huge y’all! The fancy food show is in town again everybody and there’s nothing better than a food trade show to get you inspired. My favorite part is sampling the goodies and hanging with my dear friend. Hey speaking of good friends...Here’s a quiz for you guys!

Re-Runs, THE INTERVIEW WITH: My Biggest Inspiration

My friend Jacquie was (IS!) my biggest inspiration when I decided to make a change to a plant-based eating plan. She and I both have had ups and downs. We know right from wrong and we don’t always follow ‘The Rules” but we’re trying dammit and doesn’t that count for something? I mean… UPDATE - I’ve added back seafood. I could drop it again. I like to think of me and seafood as “Friends with Benefits”. The relationship is surface at best.
