In honor of Women’s History Month, Shimsky will host a roundtable of leaders to discuss how to create effective networks for women leaders, how society is enabling women to be a visible force in economic, social, and political arenas and how to encourage the next generation of women leaders, through role modeling and mentoring, to reach career opportunities unexplored. Shimsky will be joined by Catherine Lederer-Plaskett, President & Chair of the Board of WCLA – Choice Matters, a community organization dedicated to supporting and defending female reproductive rights and Karen Cheeks-Lomax, Executive Director of My Sister’s Place, a community-based organization that provides support for victims of family violence.

March 7, 2011 -- Westchester County Board Chairman Ken Jenkins, Yonkers City Council President & Chair of the Westchester Municipal Officials Association Chuck Lesnick and Ossining Town Assessor and member of the Collaborative Assessment Commission Josette Polzella discuss the current system of property-tax assessments in Westchester and recommendations made by the Collaborative Assessment Commission, saying that every parcel in the county should be reassessed every four years, making property taxes fairer and reducing the number of lawsuits filed to argue tax assessments.
