About Us

On the 4th March 2009, my life changed forever. My Dad, the man I looked up too, the man who in my eyes had 'everything' on paper took his own life. After it happened I struggled to deal with the grief, I buried the pain and found myself asking the question 'why' over and over again. I too then found myself struggling with depression and anxiety. This Podcast is all about documenting not only my own personal journey to discovering more about mental health and suicide, but to also document other stories too. It's time to talk about mental health, it's time to give it the voice it deserves and hopefully this Podcast can provide that. Hopefully this Podcast helps show others that they're not alone...

Paul McGregor is an author, lecturer, a mental health advocate, husband, Father of 2 and avid Liverpool supporter. He shares daily content, giving mental health a voice across multiple social platforms and through speaking and workshops across the UK.

ERIC BANDHOLZ (BEARDBRAND) - Behind The Reel #5

This one I've been holding back for a while, but I was lucky to sit down and chat with Eric Bandholz from Beardbrand. Aside from Eric's really poor jokes (watch until the end!) we spoke openly about topics such as parenting, business success, finding confidence and infertility. With Eric's channel having over 1 million subscribers, we really stepped 'behind the reel' in this interview...We spoke about:- How growing a beard helped him live his truth, and gain confidence.- The struggles he and his wife faced trying to become parents.- How he balances business with family, and the challenges he faces.- The real reason why he started Beardbrand.- The lessons he's learnt from failure- What advice he would give to somebody wanting to become a YouTuber today...I hope this conversation helps you as much as it helped me, and I want to once again thank Eric for his time and honesty. The main purpose behind this series is to show influencers in a light we might not see them from what they share...

Could My Dad Still Be Alive?

Depressed and Silent, to A Mental Health Advocate

SORRY! SORRY! SORRY! Firstly, for the lack of recent updates. But hopefully this episode makes up for it :)This was an old interview, back in summer, with Dave who has his own podcast and we discussed a lot around mental health, masculinity and also my journey.Back in 2009, just after losing dad, things didn't look great. I found myself in a dark place, at 21 with very little hope. But through seeking help, and through a journey of dealing with the emotions I suppressed I managed to change how I was feeling.Fast forward over 10 years, and I now share my story and talk openly about mental health full time... whenever I can. But it wasn't an easy ride.I discuss it with Dave in this Podcast.Enjoy!Find out more about me: www.pmcgregor.comFollow me on Instagram: www.instagram.com/pmcgregorcom See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Antonio Centeno (Real Men Real Style) - Behind The Reel #4

EThis interview really shocked me. I've had the pleasure of knowing Antonio Centeno for a while now, but what he shared in this interview was truly inspiring.Antonio Centeno was someone I got to know after watching his videos on YouTube back in 2011, and seeing his channel grow over the years (and his work ethic) has been hugely motivating for me. His passion for style, business, but also helping people really shines through whenever I have a conversation with him. But this conversation was different...We spoke about:- When he got in to YouTube (and why)- The emotions he felt after losing his sister to suicide- His thoughts on the military, and the high suicide rates amongst veterans- Why what you see on YouTube, never tells the full story- How he deals with trauma in his life- His #1 piece of advice for anyone wanting to hit 1 million subscribers on YouTubeI hope this conversation helps you as much as it helped me, and I want to once again thank Antonio for his time and honesty. 5 Things I WISH I Knew At 18...

Just finished up a lecture and wanted to record this episode sharing 5 lessons I wish I knew when I was 18. At 18, I had just faced the biggest turning point in my life. My Dad had taken his own life. I struggled with the grief, dealing with the why and I struggled to deal with anxiety and depression. I decided to look back and think about 5 things I've personally learnt a long the way and I hope they help you too. They are:5 Things I Wish I Knew At 18…1. Focus on what I control2. Don’t worry about judgement3. Be present4. Live in abundance, not in lack5. Strive for freedom by being YOU.To raise awareness for mental health, please leave a rating and review! How To Get Rid Of Guilt Instantly

Feeling guilty and want to stop? In this episode I talk about what you can do to get rid of guilt instantly. Guilt is a negative emotion. When you carry guilt, you carry negativity. We often feel guilty because of things we've done in the past, but understanding the root cause of guilt is the first step to letting go.Remember guilt is just an emotion, a thought, and you control your thoughts. Therefore start by taking responsibility and resolving whatever it is that's causing you guilt. Then forgive yourself. We all make mistakes, it's how we deal with the mistakes we make which defines us. Forgiving yourself will allow you to remove the feeling of guilt immediately. Letting go of the past is key too, you can't control anything you've done in the past you can only control what you do right now. Let go of the past and make change in the present.I hope this episode helped, if it did don't forget to leave a rating and review.Watch the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRF0erizDA8&t...

Antidepressants? (My Thoughts)

So over the past few days there's been two occasions where I've been asked about antidepressants, and I wanted to share a few of those thoughts on this quick episode. In other episodes, I've been honest about my opinions about antidepressants but I wanted to reframe them in this video. For me, antidepressants and medication for mental health is needed. But the way they're being prescribed and the way it seems to be the ONLY treatment I can get instantly right now simply isn't right.I talk more about it in the episode!P.S.
