Should you be your kid's best friend?

Your kids are your kids. That’s it. You should not be their friend. I don’t know about you, but when my friends tell me something that I don’t want to hear, I ignore them. People want to be friends with their kids because they think that this will make the lines of communication more open. Your kids have to see you as their parent, not their friend. If they respect you and trust you, they will tell you all you want to hear. If they know that you’re fair, they will come to you when they do something wrong. You’re supposed to be their parent. You’re supposed to be the disciplinarian. You’re supposed to walk in front of them and lead them, not walk beside them. I think people treat their kids like friends because it makes it easier to talk to someone as a friend and they want to be liked. Being liked is not why you became a parent. You became a parent because you wanted to make a better version of yourself that will go out in the world and make big changes. When you’re a friend and you have to discipline your child, this is confusing for them. Their friends don’t do this to them. And when they do, they tell their friends to take a hike. It’s important that you set the grounds rules early on. I’m the parent and you’re the child. This relationship has worked very well this way for a long time.

Should I Be A Strong Dad?

All dads should be strong. Period. Strength is the manifestation of health. From the beginning of time, the strongest people have survived. You need to be healthy to be a dad for a long time. You need to be strong to do stuff for your kids. Here are the top five reasons you need to be strong. Just doing the regular stuff- you’d be surprised how often I hear people say that they hurt their back tying their shoes. You have to be in shape to just live. Mental health- You need an outlet. Life will eat you up if you don’t. You want to have a productive way to take care of your anger. It’s important for men to have an outlet to manifest their testosterone if they don’t work a physical job. You won’t get sick- If you’re in shape you’ll have a stronger immune system. If you’re strong on the outside, you’ll be just as strong on the inside. You won’t get hurt- muscle is like a suit of armor. You’ll be ready for what life throws at you. You won’t get hurt if you fall. Heck, you might not even fall cuz you have such good control of your body. You’ll move better- if you have control of your body, you’ll be agile. Relative strength is a great metric to show how strong you are. You can see that being strong isn’t just for throwing weights around in the gym. You just need to be strong to do regular things. The best chance you have to make it to the end of your life in healthy condition is getting strong. It's in your best interest to do this early because the older you get, the harder it will be to get in shape.

You are not Mark Zuckerberg, and that's OK.

Hey guys. Thanks for coming back. I hope the info I’m providing has impacted you in a positive way. Today I want to tell you that you aren’t Mark Zuckerberg. You have to accept this. Lets go! This might sound a bit harsh. You might have just gotten your feelings hurt. That’s too bad. And that’s OK. Everyone should aspire to be the best in their field if they want. Everyone should have someone that they look up to professionally. The problem with this (and the problem that I have) is that sometimes the people that we look up to are outliers or real superstars and we will never be at their level. These people have something special that we should all want to reach but they’re really 1 in a million. If you have a friend that makes a lot of money or gets all the girls, there’s a chance that you’ll be able to mimic what he's doing and you reach the success that he has. If you go out and say that you’re going to be the next Jeff Bezos, be prepared to fail. And this is ok. If you use Elon Musk as a beacon for your journey, you’ll get really far. You’ll get farther than if you would have used your friend as your roadmap. Even if you sat down with one of these high performers and wrote down everything they did to reach their high level of success, you probably wouldn’t be able to make the sacrifices that they made to reach their goals. You probably wouldn’t be able to step on all the toes that they did. And that’s ok. A lot of people use this as an excuse not to start. They say that I’ll neve be like them so there’s no reason to even start. Think of it this way: If you don’t start, you won’t get anywhere. If you do what your millionaire neighbor did, you’ll be a millionaire. If you try and be a billionaire like Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg or Bill Gates, you’ll end up a lot better than your neighbor. So go out there and try and be like Jeff, Mark or Bill. Don’t let their success stop you. Don’t quit just because you find out their success is out of your reach. If you never work toward a goal that’s out of your reach, you’ll never know how far you’ll really get.
