EDESOLATION SOUNDS PODCAST EPISODE 46 - GRAPHICS ARTISTS BE DAMNED You name the profession, I'll tell you you're shit at it. The first proper Desolation Sounds Podcast episode of 2020 (how exciting) and we continue the usual level of sub-standard reviews and time-keeping as Steven looks at new EPs from Southern California hardcore mob Pressure Cracks and Watford's mysterious hardcore supergroup The HELL, there's also album reviews for Seattle's post-whatever party starters Dragged Under, Leicester-based doomsters Garganjua, and the polarising madness of Poppy. 45 - Albums of the Decade

EDESOLATION SOUNDS PODCAST EPISODE 45 - ALBUMS OF THE DECADE A herculean task if I do say so myself. So eventually, Steven has compiled the Desolation Sounds Podcast albums of the decade that was in the 2010s. Expect to hear about Architects, Code Orange, Hawk Eyes, Creeper, Zeal & Ardor, as well as tiredness, a croaky voice, repetitiveness, forgetfulness and so much more. Legit, recording for nearly 2 hours in one sitting may have almost killed me. This is a gargantuan episode that started recording at half 3 in the afternoon and finished at half 2 the following morning (with another fun shift at work in the middle) so fucking well done to anyone who gets through this in one go. Also go outside more please. This podcast is powered by Pinecast.

EDESOLATION SOUNDS PODCAST EPISODE 43 - 2019 AOTY PART 1 A famous man once said: "heya". After a month-long hiatus and for the first time in 2020, Steven is back with the Desolation Sounds Podcast, rounding up the year we've left behind us and counting down albums 20-11 in the end of year list. As a sneak peak, expect to hear about Hawk Eyes, Tiny Moving Parts, Dinosaur Pile-Up, Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties (which still can't be pronounced properly) and more! NOTE: The audio is cack as all my good gear is still unusable. Soz like. This podcast is powered by Pinecast.

42 - Friday Morning Blues

EDESOLATION SOUNDS PODCAST EPISODE 42 - FRIDAY MORNING BLUES I am writing this fully aware I should be in bed right now... An episode so big a single day couldn't contain it, Steven powers through house viewings, work and sleep deprivation for the Desolation Sounds Podcast and takes a look at new releases from deathcore titans Fit For An Autopsy, Australian proggy metalcore from Thornhill, occult alt metal trio Puppy, our emo lord and saviours Jimmy Eat World, and Steven also looks at the alternative but by no means rock or metal in the form of the avant-garde collaboration between Faith No More frontman Mike Patton and esteemed French composer Jean-Claude Vannier, as well as a hard-hitting, noisy horrorcore masterclass from clipping.. There's a look at the latest Download Festival announcement including the likes of Volbeat, PUP, BABYMETAL, Baroness, Tiny Moving Parts and more. This podcast is powered by Pinecast.

41 - Listen to Music, It'll Make You Sad!

EDESOLATION SOUNDS PODCAST EPISODE 41 - LISTEN TO MUSIC, IT'LL MAKE YOU SAD! I used a meme for this. That makes this an edgy podcast now right? Steven had the house to himself for a while and did the only logical thing; bust out a brand new episode of the Desolation Sounds Podcast! Reviewed this week are the new albums from US gruff punks Off With Their Heads, German pseudo-theist doomsters Fvneral Fvkk, the absolutely mad mathcore mob Car Bomb, an ultra-emotional ambient outing from the legendary Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, expansive post-hardcore lads Being As An Ocean, and a genuine AOTY contender in proggy marvels Leprous. There's also a look at the first announcement from Arctangent Festival, and a clusterfuck of returns in My Chemical Romance, Rage Against the Machine, Creeper and King Diamond. 40 - Head Colds & Boom Sticks

EDESOLATION SOUNDS PODCAST EPISODE 40 - HEAD COLDS & BOOM STICKS Not quite the Halloween special you deserve, but the one my crippled body can provide. Merry Spookmas one and all! To celebrate this most merriest of all the non-holidays, the Desolation Sounds Podcast reviews some redonkulous, widdly power metal from DragonForce, the band Mötley Crüe wants to be when they grow up in Steel Panther, the band Steven wants to be when he grows up in BABYMETAL, a Venn Records split feature UK underground punks Yarraman, Other Half, Grieving and Yr Poetry, politically-driven indie punk from Nervus, doomy UK hardcore from Brutality Will Prevail and lastly, what better way to celebrate Halloween than with the new album from Wednesday 13. And on top of all that, your boy takes a quick gander at the recent line-up announcements for Slam Dunk Festival including a rather exciting Your Demise reunion. This podcast is powered by Pinecast.

39 - Santa Claus Informs the Son

EDESOLATION SOUNDS PODCAST EPISODE 39 - SANTA CLAUS INFORMS THE SON Now with even less Christmas. A sniffly edition of the Desolation Sounds Podcast as this week, Steven runs down the recent S&M2 show from Metallica and the San Francisco Symphony, then album reviews go to brooding gothic queen Chelsea Wolfe, a expletive-riddled look at pop punk titans Blink-182, traditional Mongolian folk music blended with western rock and metal in the form of The HU, and maturing gracefully in the main event is heartland punk heroes The Menzingers. Plus stick around to the very end of this week's show where I have been given super special permission to show off the brand new track Bury-based blackened thrash/punk mob Pist which you can hear in full.
