Episode 35 (June 2020) Alone Together Part I - Lifelines for the Frontlines

Due to the COVID-19 crisis and making music of my own over the past few months I haven't done a new podcast in awhile. The next three are very special. Cleveland troubadour and local legend Charlie Wiener came up with a plan, along with a few other people, to bring music to our homes since we can't go out to clubs, so he had Northeast Ohio's best singer/songwriters record songs in their homes and he showed them. One of the goals was to raise money for personal protective equipment for workers, food banks and other charity organisations involved in fighting the COVID crisis. Each performer in these shows have corresponding videos and others available on YouTube, so if you like what you hear here, please check out their video pages and drop a tip in their respective virtual tip-jars or PayPal accounts!!! No one is making money as long as the clubs remain closed. This episode and the two that will follow will feature that music, and it's great stuff. So, without further ado, here is Lifelines for the Frontlines:DAVE SMETLTZ: It's GraceRON JARVIS: Them Dancehall GirlsCHARLIE WIENER: We'll Be Drinkin' Together (While We're Alone)CHARLIE MOSBROOK: Together AloneTYRONE HORNBUCKLE: That's The WayJEFF VARGA: Don't Tell Me It Can't Be DoneJIM BALLARD & ALEX BEVAN: Night Time For JacobBOB FRANK & RON JARVIS: This Side Of The RiverCARY MATTHEWS: Sliver Of LightDAVID CROUSE: The Rainbow SongALEX BEVAN: Hope!JON MOSEY: Keep It CleanJAY SCOTT FRANKLIN: Sitting On The Edge Of A SongMARC LEE SHANNON: Walk This RoadMATT HARMON: American DreamZACH: MaranTRACY MARIE: Meet Me In New York'KATIE ROWLAND: Sick Of Losing SoulmatesCHLOE FREEMAN: Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?anitakeys & RYANN ANDERSON: Stayin' Safe At HomeANGELLE SHERIDAN: Changing TimeANGIE HAZE: Asleep Or AwakeRAY FLANAGAN: (We Can't Go Back To) The Way It WasAUSTIN WALKIN' CANE: I Don't UnderstandCARLOS JONES: SunriseJIM ZELLER: Red-Lit RoomA.S. This episode features some special content. First of all, there is a mini-tribute to Peter Laughner, a creative genius and founding member of the seminal pre-punk band Rocket from the Tombs and what can, I guess, be called the alt-folk band Cinderella Backstreet. He was generally considered a tortured soul who committed suicide in the late 1970s, leaving behind a large body of work including demos and live recordings. Though he never released an official album during his lifetime, there are many things available through other sources, including a brilliant new five-disc box set that was just released by Smog Veil Records, which has collected pretty much everything that he recorded with various incarnations of his bands and solo demos.
